An apartment we decorated for Airbnb in Woodstock three or four years ago just popped up as part of an ad for a lighting brand. Of all the apartments they could have to chosen to illustrate great decor and fantastic return on investment, they chose this! I take it as a compliment!

STAGED TODAY!

Barton and I had only a few minutes to take a video of this latest project - a freestanding two bedroom in lush surroundings.

We laid down loads of loose rugs, echoed the palm trees and blue sky in our furnishings and hopefully created a relaxed vibe for the new buyers.

Our last project resulted in 8 offers in 2 hours and a sale WAY above asking price.

I think this one will have a similar effect.

Yes, the market is HOT right now in Cape Town, but for those who want an extra push in price, staging is the way to go…

Hair done. Lipstick on.

Ready for the big reveal, even though the bed linen is not there. The managing agents supply that.

My client was definitely about the look he wanted,- he loves green, would have had dark green walls if they were in budget; loved the round wood headboard and cork side tables I’d used in another project, wanted a big green strelitzia plant.

The property overlooks a person made dam in Century City. The landscaping in that area is natural - it definitely doesn’t look mam made. I kept checking to see what birds were visiting.

There are lots of very large palm trees that must have been carefully saved during construction as they look old. We incorporated them in a cushion, and echoed the dam area in the picture about the earthy toned sofa, which, by the way, is damn comfortable.

I’m trying something new with our home stagings - more blues, and greens and rust colours.

We wanted to make it delightful and warm and also spirited. I don’t love minimalism and I’m moving away from the “less is more” home staging concept.

As usual, we used a ton of plants, from orchids to fiddle figs to monstera and an extraordinary number of rugs (I think about 5) in this two-bed cottage in Gardens.

If you’re in the market for a charming townhouse/apartment, where you can see Table Mountain from the sofa, this is a really good one.

I always forget I’m going to do a video for social media when I view a property. My hair’s a mess and I’m not wearing make up.

Never mind.

When the outside is this dramatic, the inside has to know when to whisper.

This was a small space, so the brief was clear: keep the interior quiet, calm and grounding. A place to land after a day in the city. Think luxe, calme et volupté.

White oak tones, natural wood shelving, soft layers, and gentle greens that echo the landscape rather than compete with it.

I loved working with South African makers on this one.






Huge thanks as well to propr managing agents — so helpful throughout and a pleasure to work with when all the moving parts need to come together smoothly.

And the best part? The owners only saw the apartment properly in December and sent this message shortly after:

“We are so happy with the result! Bookings are really good, almost fully booked for Jan.” 💪🏾
