Glazing used to give me anxiety, it always flet like an unpredictable lottery. Yo, I could write stories of how this process used to just break me down. I used to approach it with such childlike excitement, and the kiln would just show me flames.

The excitement is still there, I think it’s more anchored now. Every vessel, every gritty texture, and every shape carries the story of that evolution. No two are identical. Each has its own soul and personality.

We are hosting a Studio Sale, and every single piece available is entirely different. They carry so much with them from glazing experiments and shapes. Nothing is the same, each piece has its individual character and personality. I’ve learnt that I will always be experimental in my work. There is something incredibly grounding about hand-building with terracotta. It feels like a connection to the earth that forces one to slow down and just be completely present in the making.

This vessel is bone dry, and the longer I look at her, the more she grows on me. I love her silhouette, her presence, and the way the form came together. But underneath, right at the base, she’s carrying a deep crack 🪶🙃
