This is literally the first print I ever designed! My precious Pied Kingfisher! It all started with me wanting to do a series of bird prints for my new home here in Cape Town. I chose a few birds that reminded me of my childhood, birdwatching down at the dam on the sugar cane farm I grew up on in Empangeni. I went and bought some paper from to do a first print, and then I took it back with me to match the paper for the next few and the lovely lady who owns Deckle Edge asked me if she could buy it! I was flabbergasted and overjoyed, and she gave me the idea to start selling my prints and that was the very beginning of The Shelfie. She brought me a pencil and taught me how to sign a print (I had no clue) and I made my first sale then and there! This series of bird prints are also on the Autumn Sale, and you can buy an A4 for R120 and and A3 for R160.

This one photographed is one of the very originals still signed with my maiden name...I think I will frame this guy and finally put him up in my home as a memento of how it all began!

I still have a beautiful Ficus Burgundy available! And two basket options for you to choose from! ✨
Order the Ficus Burgundy in the basket for R450 or you can just buy a basket or the plant separately for R240 each.
The baskets are 25cm tall and 23cm wide with handles and the plant is potted in a plastic pot and fits perfectly into the basket. DM or mail to order this beaut as this isn’t available on the online store. @ Cape Town, Western Cape

Not my usual plant inspired prints at all, but wow have I been having fun putting paint to paper again! I am usually such a perfectionist and always limit my creativity times with a specific product outcome in mind, but working on these artworks has been so liberating! I am thinking of adding a few original series to the site and having a few limit edition prints available too...what do you think?
