The KTP Film & Television Scriptwriting 3-Day Programme, presented by KwaziThina Publishers in partnership with the Eastern Cape Provincial Arts and Culture Council (ECPACC) as part of the 5th Funda Mpondo International Literary Festival, is designed to help writers transform their stories into powerful screenplays.

Celebrating the Power of Film, Creativity and Collaboration!

The Eastern Cape Film Expo 2026 brought together filmmakers, creatives, industry leaders and aspiring storytellers for an inspiring exchange of ideas, innovation and opportunity.

A key highlight of the programme was a thought-provoking masterclass by acclaimed musician and producer Zwai Bala who explored the vital role of music in storytelling and its ability to shape emotion and connect audiences to the screen. Participants also gained valuable industry insights from Amanda Mathe of the KwaZulu-Natal Film and Tourism Authority, who led an informative session on film pitching and distribution.

Through engaging discussions, practical masterclasses and meaningful networking opportunities, the Film Expo continues to strengthen the Eastern Cape’s film and television industry by equipping local creatives with the knowledge, skills and connections needed to thrive.

We Empowering the Next Generation of Storytellers! 🎬

From 26–28 June 2026, ECPACC proudly hosted the Literature Festival Master Class during the Eastern Cape Literature Festival in Makhanda, Eastern Cape.

Twenty emerging creatives from across the province were selected for an intensive three-day programme designed to strengthen their skills in writing, producing, directing and acting. Participants had the invaluable opportunity to learn from some of South Africa’s leading creative minds, including Professor Zanemvula Kizito Gatyeni Mda and acclaimed filmmaker Sihle Hlophe gaining practical knowledge and industry insights to help shape their creative journeys.

This initiative reflects ECPACC’s continued commitment to developing the Eastern Cape’s creative sector by investing in local talent, fostering innovation, and creating pathways for artists to compete on both national and international stages.

Together, we are building a vibrant, sustainable and highly skilled creative ecosystem.

The Eastern Cape Film Expo 2026 is proud to welcome Bonganjalo Siseko Marala as Programme Director for day 2&3 for this year's event.

As Film Development Manager at the Eastern Cape Provincial Arts and Culture Council (ECPACC), Bonganjalo plays a pivotal role in advancing the growth and transformation of the province's audio-visual sector through industry support programmes, policy implementation and capacity-building initiatives.

His expertise spans film and television production, public administration, development studies and research, providing him with a unique perspective on the intersection of creativity, policy and economic development.

Bonganjalo is passionate about empowering filmmakers and strengthening the creative economy. With extensive experience in film sector development and public sector innovation, he brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the Eastern Cape Film Expo 2026.

As ECPACC, we are supporting 20 participants attending the Eastern Cape Literature Festival.

Through this initiative, participants are afforded a valuable opportunity to participate in workshops facilitated by renowned industry leaders, including Prof. Zakes Mda, John Kani, and Sihle Hlophe, an acclaimed director and producer.

These engagements aim to nurture literary talent, inspire creativity, and provide participants with meaningful exposure to experienced professionals in the arts and creative sector.
