How accurate can digital renders be to the real thing? With AI bombarding us on all fronts, I still think the final product is always better! These are the renders for Isilembe Game Reserve in Mkuze Falls, Northern Zululand which has undergone extensive renovations and will be completed within the next few weeks. The trucks are currently rolling in and I cannot wait to share the REAL thing once every detail is in its rightful place project!

This lodge renovation project in collaboration with and is coming together beautifully. Magnificent wild leopard orchids found in the bush by landscaper David Griessel. Lots of cleaning out and stripping down of the original structure in progress - to create a cool clean shell that opens everything up to the extraordinary view of the Mkuzi Falls.

The last 3 weeks have been a whirlwind of travel starting off with an installation in a lovely Jozi apartment, followed by site visits to Northern Zululand, Stellenbosch, back to Mkuzi and finally I’m back home. I did manage to squeeze in a lighting visit to the very lovely Shelati train on the bridge suspended over the magnificent Sabi River to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary …. Now THAT was a treat and a half!

The main bedroom is washed in natural morning light facing a magnificent stretch of Christmas Bay. Soft sage green with natural raffia and bamboo accents keep things beachy but still do justice to the eclectic mix of antiques, contemporary furniture shapes and of course the essential zebra hide on the floor! 😜

In keeping with the simple knocked-back approach of the decor; white Cemcrete floors were selected for all the bathrooms with a classic white metro tile supplied by Victorian Bathrooms in the showers.

The guest bedroom is a complete architectural folly! Tessa loves having friends and
family to stay so she went all out with making it super inviting. 🐆

Chocolate leopard print fabric from the Tessa Proudfoot for StLeger&Viney fabric collection plus Christopher Farr Palm print cushions also in chocolate. Specially designed with two head to head daybeds for nieces and nephews to sleepover.
