Heirlooms is on the move.

Alongside the design and technology side of Casa de Nitas, Juanita runs Heirlooms. Vintage furniture and crockery, sourced and restored, given a second life in someone else's home rather than left to gather dust in a garage somewhere.

It comes from the same place as everything else we do. A good piece, made properly, deserves to be used and loved rather than thrown away. There's something worth holding onto in that.

These boards are the look and feel for our own apartment. We became our own client on this one, which means every decision is one we'd happily stand behind in front of anyone.
Warm wood, sage and olive, brass and stone, texture everywhere. Calm and lived-in, not showroom-cold.

Juanita leads this side. Mood boards, materials, the full design language before anything gets built. It's the heart of what we do.

Thinking differently about TVs in bedrooms and PJ lounges.

Samsung's The Frame, Hisense Canvas, TCL NXTVISION TV — all art-mode TVs that look like a picture on the wall when off.

We take it further. Acoustically transparent fabric panels below the screen hide the soundbar, streaming box, and power completely. Sound passes straight through the fabric.

Off, it's art. On, it's a full entertainment system. The room doesn't have to choose.

A client came to us with a problem. A U-shaped boardroom. 24 seats. Three sides of participants — and a VC system that made half the room invisible on the other end of the call.

We proposed a solution to fix it. Three AI cameras, one covering each side. The system tracks who's speaking and cuts to the right camera automatically. One clean image. Every time.

Wireless presentation from anywhere at the table. Screens at the front and on retractable brackets along the sides with screens for the back of the room. Ceiling audio covering the whole room equally.

Every decision came down to one question: does this make communication easier, or harder?

That's the only question that matters.

Visited the new Crestron showroom yesterday. Really impressed with the solutions they are bringing to the market!

Honest take: Crestron is genuinely excellent for the right project. Luxury and ultra luxury residential, it is world class. Corporate enterprise, the same.

But not every project needs that level. Mid-market residential, I spec HDAnywhere and Sonoff I'd recommend in the even more affordable tier. Simple, reliable, right-sized.

The mistake is forcing solutions into projects it doesn't belong in, or dismissing it because of the price. Both are wrong.

Right tool. Right project. Right client.

Dark charcoal cabinetry. Live-edge stone island. Slatted timber ceiling. Under-cabinet lighting. A fully fitted scullery keeping everything out of sight.

Juanita designs kitchens that are as functional as they are beautiful. The two aren't mutually exclusive when the design is right from the start.

A Midstream Ridge home that just got a lot smarter.

Lighting controlled from their phone. Geyser automated to stop wasting electricity. Cameras covering the property. Garage and door access without a key. And proper Sonos audio throughout.

Everything runs on Google Home with Matter — one app, one ecosystem, everything connected.

Two audio options at different price points. Both Sonos. Both excellent. Both able to grow room by room over time.

This is what a smart home should feel like. Not complicated. Just working.

Most people think a technology solution is the hardware. The screens, the cameras, the speakers.

The hardware is the visible part. What makes it work long term is the layer most people never see.

Platforms like monitoring and control software let you monitor every AV device across every room, campus and more from one dashboard. Faults flagged before they become problems. Maintenance scheduled proactively.

Other platforms can manage digital signage, visitor management, workspace booking, and internal communications across an entire building or country. One platform, updated centrally, consistent everywhere.

This is what separates a properly delivered solution from equipment that works on day one and becomes a headache by year two.

We think about the full lifecycle. Not just what gets installed but also how it gets managed, supported, and scaled over time.

That's the difference between a system and a solution.

We don't build Casa de Nitas to make money.

Money is a tool. The moment it becomes the goal, everything starts to bend around it.
There's a story in Matthew 25 about servants entrusted with different amounts. Two multiplied what they were given. One buried his out of fear. The master's response to the first two was about faithfulness; doing something worthwhile with what you'd been trusted with.

That's how we try to run this business. The skills, the experience, the opportunities. They were entrusted to us. The question is what I do with them.

Steward well. Add genuine value. Do the work properly when no one is watching.
Not because it's good strategy. Because it's the right thing to do.
