Architecture and infrastructure come together beautifully in Stockholm’s new Slussporten restaurant by Wingårdhs, positioned beneath the striking Goldbridge designed as part of the wider Slussen masterplan by Foster + Partners.

The transparent glass structure transforms what would traditionally be an overlooked under-bridge space into a vibrant public destination filled with light, atmosphere, and connection to the surrounding waterfront. A brilliant example of how thoughtful design can redefine urban experiences.

Researchers and designers at Aalto University have transformed wood from a 17th-century shipwreck into a beautifully knitted dress using innovative textile technology and AI-assisted design. The natural brown tone comes directly from the centuries-old timber itself — completely undyed and unbleached.

An extraordinary example of how material innovation and storytelling can give new life to forgotten objects while challenging how we think about waste, heritage, and design.

Researchers at Finland's Aalto University have salvaged 300-year-old wood from the wreckage of a cargo ship in Oulu, which was transformed into yarn and knitted into a zero-waste dress.

There’s something quite powerful about this approach to restoration.

Instead of trying to rebuild what’s been lost, Stefano Boeri and his team chose to reinterpret it—using travertine slabs to trace the footprint of the original colonnades around the Colosseum.

It’s subtle, but it completely changes how you read the space. You start to understand the scale, the movement, the experience of arriving here 2,000 years ago.

Not everything needs to be reconstructed to be understood.

Sometimes, just hinting at history is enough.
