Our story
The history behind our business speaks of dedication, commitment and inspiration. The business was established when an entrepreneurial man, my late father, took a Naein carpet and introduced it to the TABAS market in 1963. The business rapidly expanded and he had more than 400 loom in about 70 villages around TABAS.
I was taught weaving from a young age as well as carpet design and everything related to the carpet industry. I was brought up in the industry and due to this unparalleled experience, I am very selective in all of our offerings. All the carpets and rugs that we supply, from Oriental rugs and Persian rugs to shaggy carpets and classic carpets, are made of the highest quality material and sold at a cost effective price. We are proud to be Johannesburg’s number one online rug shop, with over 50 years of experience and history backing our business, we deliver only the highest quality rugs and carpets.
The Oriental Rugs retail store has been open in Woodmead, Sandton, since August 2003. Since our inception in Johannesburg in 1998, we have gained great momentum. We continue to grow and evolve. We continue providing the ultimate service to our clients. We have a passion for the business and go the extra mile to ensure client satisfaction.
Oriental Rugs directly import hand knotted and hand woven carpets and kilims from Iran (Persia), Pakistan, Afghanistan and India. Since our inception in 1998, we have become one of the most sought-after rug suppliers in South Africa. Due to the great demand for our products we have expanded our services. We have the capacity to supply our carpets directly to the public through our retail store as well as to the wholesale market. Our retail store is based in Woodmead, Sandton and due to our dedication to service excellence, we are also able to deliver our carpets to our clients.
