Last Saturday, Arthur Bales was abuzz with customers – old and new – learning to crochet for The Cancer Connection Granny Square Challenge. Due to the amazing support and participation, we’ve decided to repeat our free introductory crochet lessons on 24 and 25 September, from 10am to 1pm in-store. As space is limited, it’s first come, first served.

Come and join in the fun, connect with other crafters and share in the vibe. Completed granny squares and blankets can still be dropped off in-store until 15 October.

Running through 15 October, The Cancer Connection Granny Square Challenge aims to collect granny squares or completed lap blankets to offer warmth and comfort in chemo rooms, hospitals and homes. Join the challenge and complete as many granny squares as you can.

Don’t know how to crochet? No problem - our expert staff will be available on Saturday 12 September for anyone wanting to learn to crochet, learn how to make a granny square or work them together. Pop in at any time (10am to 2pm). (Limited spaces. First come, first served.)

Arthur Bales is also an official drop-off point for the challenge – drop off you completed squares (or blankets) in-store at any time. We’ll take care of the rest.

Beginner Tunisian crochet workshops.

Learn all the essentials of Tunisian crochet in these workshops taking place at Arthur Bales on 5 and 12 September. We’ll cover the how-to of Tunisian crochet, fundamental principles and stitches, where this technique diverges from traditional crochet, and where some knitting concepts and crochet converge.

Basic crochet skills are required for the workshop. Come and explore the many and varied textures achievable with this unique crochet technique. Please contact Adriaan directly for further information and bookings. Details above.
