You do not need to be an artist. You do not need a plan. You do not even need to know exactly what you are doing when you sit down. Sometimes all it takes is one ceramic piece, a paintbrush, and a little willingness to have fun with it.

And honestly, that is part of why people love it here. It is relaxed, playful, something different. You switch off for a bit, do something with your hands, and end up making something that is completely your own.

Also, let us be honest, painting a little dog is very hard to resist.

Some things are just better shared.

A little biltong. A little crunch. Something sweet. Something salty. One of those platters that starts with “just a few bites” and somehow ends with everyone reaching in for the last piece.

That is the beauty of a table at Clay Café Illovo. You are not only here to paint. You are here to settle in, snack properly, catch up, laugh a bit, and make a moment of it.

Because the best kind of outing is the one that does not feel rushed. A good platter in the middle, paint on the table, and enough time to enjoy both.
