I've been quiet for some time, and I feel that it's time to share what's been weighing on my heart.
These pictures from December 28th, 2024, is of my incredible friend Sonette - my sister from another mother. She touched so many lives, and I'm blessed to have been by her side during her courageous battle with cancer.
We lost her on February 23rd, just last month, after a year and two months of fighting with every ounce of strength she had.
I'll never forget the regular trips to chemo, the radiation therapy, the special meals, the exhaustion, the laughter, the crying, the wonderful weekends away, the most incredible oncology team and staff at the chemo centre (angels dressed as humans), beautiful friends, colleagues and the unwavering faith that defined her journey.
Sonette, you were an incredible human and friend, and I'm so deeply grateful for the time we had. Your life and death have changed mine forever. Ek sal jou vir altyd mis my liewe maatjie.
All I can add is...Spend time with loved ones, focus on the good, cherish every moment. And LIVE your life.

PS. A few years back, a friend and I crafted this simple fynbos Christmas star, while my Mom and sister were cooking up a storm in the background 😉
This photo isn't perfect, but the memory is crystal clear. The sunset, soft candlelight, delicious smells, and feeling of togetherness - indeed it's the small things that make life special.
This Christmas is pretty special in its own way too.

Those who know me, know I’m not a huge summer fan. Long, cooler evenings for strolls and lazy picnics by the ocean are more my vibe.
This morning, though, was pure magic – lace flowers, blue skies, utterly dreamy. However, not for too long! The scorching heat is okay for a sec and then this girl runs for the first bit of shade possible 😂
