I visited the Hertex showroom in Paarl today and honestly… where do I even begin.

From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by the most beautiful facade that immediately sets the tone for what’s inside. Every corner of this showroom feels thoughtfully curated - textures, furniture, fabrics, lighting… pure inspiration everywhere you look.

And as if that wasn’t enough, they also have a coffee shop.
Interiors, furniture, coffee… what more can you ask for? ☕️🤍

Definitely one of those spaces that makes you want to redesign your entire home before you’ve even left the showroom.

One of the biggest misconceptions in interior design is that every outdated space needs a complete renovation.

This kitchen is the perfect example of why thoughtful design decisions matter more than simply replacing everything.

Before the refresh, the kitchen already functioned beautifully:
• the layout worked
• the appliance positions made sense
• the island size was generous
• storage was more than adequate

But visually, the space felt cold, flat and overly clinical.

Instead of recommending a costly full remodel involving new layouts, plumbing changes and electrical work, we focused on what would create the biggest visual and emotional impact while still respecting the client’s budget.

We transformed the space through:
• custom duco sprayed shaker-style doors and drawers
• oak veneer finger grips for added warmth and detail
• oak slatted island cladding to create a stronger focal point
• brand new countertops and backsplash
• updated prep bowl and mixer
• fresh paint throughout the entire space
• reupholstered dining chairs
• carefully selected styling and layering pieces

Adding texture where the space felt flat.
Introducing warmth without losing the modern aesthetic.
Creating a kitchen that feels timeless rather than temporary.

And this is exactly where interior design adds value.

Not just choosing finishes…
But knowing WHAT to change, WHAT to keep, WHERE to invest and HOW to make a space feel cohesive as a whole.

A well-designed home should not only look beautiful in photos.
It should feel beautiful to live in every single day.

Loved attending the Hertex trend talk yesterday morning ✨

There’s always something inspiring about seeing upcoming trends, textures and finishes come together in one space - especially when it’s presented by a brand like Hertex. From layered neutrals to tactile fabrics and timeless finishes, it was such an informative and beautifully curated morning.

As an interior designer, staying inspired and up to date with evolving trends is such an important part of the creative process - and this talk definitely left me with fresh ideas heading into upcoming projects 🤍

Layers that invite you in, textures that make you stay 🤍

This living room refresh was all about creating warmth through contrast - soft sheers against bold pattern, raw wood next to glass, woven elements balanced with ceramics. Each piece carefully placed, not just to be seen, but to be felt.

The coffee table tells its own story… stacked books, natural tones, quiet details. A reminder that this space is often where stories rest and everyday living unfolds.

A calm, layered moment in this main bedroom ✨

This custom headboard was designed to bring warmth and simplicity, grounding the space while letting the soft botanical wallpaper from do the storytelling. The subtle lighting detail adds that quiet glow we love for evenings.

Every element here was thoughtfully designed and styled to create a space that feels both elevated and completely at ease.

A project completed a while back, but still one of my favourites 🤍
