For the past 8 years, my mornings have been filled with laughter and creativity. Pottery isnโ€™t just art. Itโ€™s therapy, a space where you can relax and simply be yourself.

Every student brings their own spark, and when someone misses a class, we truly feel it. We found connections, peace, and we share joy. ๐Ÿค—

Mother Earth Pottery

The artist behind Mother Earth Pottery, Hannah La Grange, is a self-taught ceramic artist with over 20 yearsโ€™ experience. After running a full-scale pottery business in her youth, she decided to focus on her art and teaching others. Today, you can find her in the picturesque art loving town of Montagu in the Western Cape, South Africa.

Her handmade pottery / ceramics are all wheel thrown with architectural precision and are made with only clay, fire and water. Mother nature decides on the texture and colour which creates bespoke pieces of art. It is a process that takes time to develop in stages, but the end result is worth the wait.

Pieces are fired in an electric kiln up to 1000 degrees Celsius in order to harden the clay. Most are made with ancient techniques called raku, saggar or pit firing (adapted and modernized). They are placed in a sawdust fire pit that causes each piece to reveal unique textures and colours. Feathers, horsehair, banana peels, seaweed, salt and coffee beans are some of the materials used to manipulate the final colour.

The appeal in Mother Earth Pottery is that every piece tells a different story, is completely unique and strives to emulate the organic essence of what mother nature has to offer.
