When architecture and interior design are conceived as one, something special happens.

This Kirkwood Farmhouse is an extensive alterations and restoration project that represents a truly integrated collaboration between DMV Architecture and DMV Interior Design. From the earliest concept discussions, both teams worked as one, ensuring the architecture and interiors evolved together rather than as separate disciplines.

Every intervention has been carefully considered to preserve the character and heritage of the original farmhouse while adapting it for contemporary living. From the reimagined layout and architectural detailing to the interior finishes, lighting, furniture and material palette, every decision contributes to one cohesive vision.

Inspired by the timeless charm of traditional farmhouses, the design introduces generous, light-filled spaces, warm natural materials and handcrafted details that feel authentic to the home's history while meeting the needs of modern family life.

This project demonstrates the value of an integrated design approach. When architecture and interior design are developed side by side, every space feels intentional, every detail has purpose, and the result is a home that is both beautifully restored and thoughtfully reimagined.

Oh! How we love designing a boardroom. 🀩

There’s something about this space that gives us the opportunity to push the corporate boundaries a little more. It’s where the client’s CI can take on a more formal, sophisticated feel, while still fitting into the language of the rest of the office.

For GIB at Bloomingdales, we layered warm timber with black detailing, full height glazing and a statement pendant over the boardroom table. The timber slatted wall brings warmth and texture into the room, while the glazing keeps it connected to the office beyond.

It’s polished. It’s professional. But it still has personality.

Because if there’s one room in an office that deserves to make an impression, it’s the boardroom.

There’s something quite satisfying about watching a detail come together on site.

At 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘏𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘦 in St Francis Bay, the existing staircase was given a new lease on life rather than being completely replaced.

New engineered timber flooring was introduced across the treads, while patterned feature tiles were used on the risers to bring a bit of personality into what could otherwise have been a very ordinary transition between floors.

The existing balustrade was retained, keeping a little of the home’s original character and proving that a renovation doesn’t always mean starting from scratch.

A few details from site on this St Francis Canals transformation.

The project involved extensive additions and alterations, with the original thatch roof replaced by shingles as part of the transformation.

It’s always great getting to this stage and seeing the smaller details come together. From the new roof forms and ceilings to the staircase, finishes and joinery, the house is really taking shape.
