Between the two of us, we have 30 years of experience in design education and practice. Our areas of expertise include interior design and inclusive design. As interior designer’s we work hard to craft interior spaces and environments that are beautiful and pleasant to occupy. As inclusive designers, we ensure these environments are accessible to all. sting or proposed environments to uncover barriers to persons with disabilities. We work purposefully to intersect the too often separate worlds of disability and design. We believe disability can inspire design and make recommendations that innovate and intrigue.

The updated SANS 10400-S:2025 introduces several important changes to accessibility requirements in South African buildings.

In this short video, we highlight some of the key differences between the 2011 version and the 2025 update — and what they mean for architects, developers, and building owners.

The revised standard places stronger emphasis on inclusive design, clearer technical requirements, and improved usability for persons with disabilities.
