HOMEMADE BAGELS 🥯 I’m so excited about these! Now all we have to do is fill them! I’ll post the full recipe reel soon so you can see every step of this process, but I promise, it is simpler than it looks. I squeezed my end a bit too hard so I’ve added a tip on how to avoid the thinner side. I topped mine with white and black sesame seeds, but I would have used poppy seeds if I had them.

Ingredients
1 ¼ Cup Warm Water
10g Instant Yeast
2 Tsp White Sugar
4 ½ Cups of Bread Flour
2 Tsp Salt
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 Egg, beaten
¼ Cup Sesame Seeds or Poppy Seeds
Instructions
1. In a bowl, mix together the warm water, instant yeast and sugar. Stir to combine then set aside for 5 minutes for the yeast to bloom.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the bread flour and salt. Then add the yeast mixture and the oil to the flour.
3. Bring the dough together and knead for 8-10 minutes by hand or 6-8 minutes using a stand mixture. Then transfer to a bowl and cover, set the dough aside until it doubles in size (about an hour).
4. Punch dough down and divide into 8 pieces. Roll the dough pieces into a log then wrap the dough around and secure by squeezing the ends together. To even out the dough, roll the squeezed side between your palms.
5. Set the bagels aside and to rise again until doubled in size.
6. Preheat oven to 220 C and boil a pot of water on the stove.
7. Place each bagel into the boiling water and boil for 1 minute on each side then remove from the boiling water.
8. Brush the egg on each bagel and top with your desired toppings then bake for 20-22 minutes until baked through.
