The Original Delicious Delicious was established in Menlo Park, Pretoria, in 2002.

Chefs Rachel and Lulu produce real food by hand using basic ingredients, with no preservatives, chemicals or colouring agents added. Looking ahead to Friday, Pretoria is expected to have a really cold day, with a maximum temperature of around 14 degrees Celsius. BRRRR, and we plan to cook accordingly… these are our delicious offers for 5 and 6 June 2026:

⁠CHICKEN TAGINE WITH EGGPLANT PUREE (pictured)
Tagine is a classic North African dish in which meat and vegetables are braised in a gently spiced sauce in an earthenware pot with a conical lid, ensuring a famously tender and deeply flavourful meal.
We simmer chicken thighs in a sauce of garlic, ginger, saffron and black pepper until tender, and serve it with a thick, intensely flavoured sauce of fried eggplant, tomatoes, spices and almond flakes, as well as fattoush – a Levantine bread salad with crispy pita bread pieces and a fresh salad. Reheat chicken R280, serves 2

⁠TRADITIONAL FISH BOBOTIE PIE
We prepared a popular fish bobotie for years in Menlo Park and recently received many requests for it. This version of the traditional Cape dish is prepared with flaky white fish and all the spices that made bobotie famous, along with the obligatory raisins and apricot jam. We chose a cream cheese pastry topped with lemon zest and flaked almonds for this version. Reheat R330, serves 4

⁠LAMB AND LENTIL SOUP (you asked for it!)
A rich, comforting broth with shredded leg of lamb slow-roasted with carrots, onion, celery, garlic, leeks, tomatoes, lentils and warm spices. Reheat R200/litre (4 cups/2 generous servings)

⁠CORN CHOWDER
The ultimate comfort food, prepared with corn, potatoes, onion, thyme, milk, and flour. The soup is slow-cooked until it is thick and creamy. Reheat R180/litre (4 cups/2 generous servings)

COURGETTE CHEESE FILO PIE (new)
This is our take on a traditional Greek Kolokithopita, made with baby marrows, feta and other cheeses, herbs, eggs and cream, topped with a drizzle of honey. 20cm diameter. Reheat R250 each

SPINACH PIE
A spinach filling flavoured with feta, mint and lemon wrapped in phyllo pastry. 20cm diameter. Reheat R200 each

PEAR & MATURE CHEDDAR TART
A savoury tart in a casing of our handmade puff pastry with baked pears, mature cheddar, thyme and pecan nuts, drizzled with honey. 20cm diameter. Reheat R250 each

MELKKOS
Melkkos - we supply the concentrate and cinnamon sugar. Add milk to your liking while stirring over low heat. R130/litre, makes up to 8 cups.

Good morning, Pretoria. Join us for breakfast at the Hazel Food Market / ACC Market this lovely Saturday morning. Chef Lulu prepares scrambled egg, bacon and feta on order and we have melkkos with cinnamon sugar for those with a sweet tooth. Our specialty, delicious chilli hot chocolate, is just the decadent, small drink to warm you up on a chilly, but sunny, weekend morning. We also have three take-home soups available. SOUPS
Mombasa cuisine is a fusion of Indian, Arab and African traditions. Mombasa curried chicken soup is a
lightly curried dish made with slow-braised chicken, garam masala, cardamom, garlic, ginger, tomatoes, coconut milk and a hint of chilli. Ideal for winter evenings! Reheat R200/litre (4 cups/2 generous servings)

Pumpkin soup with macadamia dukkah – a hearty, blended soup made with blue pumpkin (ysterpampoen), paprika, cumin, coriander, garlic, onion, lemon, macadamias and sesame seeds. Reheat R180/litre (4 cups/2 generous servings)

BBQ CHICKEN ESPETADAS
A Portuguese-style chicken skewer, threaded with peppers and onions, roasted and basted with our own spicy BBQ sauce made with tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, espresso, lemons, paprika, oregano, garlic, and a hint of chilli. Served with a chopped tomato salad and our own condensed milk bread. Reheat chicken, R280, serves 4

MOROCCAN BEEF MEATBALLS
These aromatic, Moroccan-inspired beef meatballs balance the warm, earthy spice of cinnamon with the bright, briny pop of preserved lemon. They are simmered in a rich tomato sauce.
Made with beef mince, onion, garlic, ginger, cinnamon, red wine, cumin, paprika, tomatoes, preserved lemon, cous-cous, olives and fresh herbs. Reheat R300, serves 4

VEGETARIAN MEAL
Butternut and tomato crumble made with butternut squash, cherry tomatoes, onion, garlic, cream and spinach, topped with a cheese and thyme crumble. Reheat R230, serves 4-6

CURRY MEAL
A chicken flattie in a Cape-style curry sauce (Malay curry spices with garlic, ginger, garam masala, tomato, coconut milk, apricot jam and a hint of vanilla) served with basmati rice and a sambal. Reheat R260, serves 4

Ouma’s green bean, potato and bacon soup. Reheat R180/litre (4 cups/2 generous servings)

BURGER FRIDAY
Our own tahini brioche buns served with a 200g handmade beef patty, our own garlic mayonnaise, pickled cucumber, and our BBQ sauce. Reheat the patty and assemble to serve. R110 each

PORK SAUSAGE LASAGNE
Rachel’s own handmade pork sausages (made with pork belly) flavoured with fresh fennel, layered with roast sweet potato, fresh pasta sheets and béchamel sauce, finished with parmesan. Reheat to serve. R260, serves 2 to 4

CHICKEN SOUP
A comforting, immune-boosting chicken soup, prepared with whole chickens oven-roasted overnight, then shredded and cooked with mushrooms, carrots, bay leaves, turmeric, spinach, thyme and a bit of lemon zest. Reheat to serve, R150 per litre (4 cups or 2 generous servings)

NOT SO CARNE SOUP (VEGETARIAN)
A vegetarian take on chilli con carne, but without the meat, made with butternut squash, brown rice, red kidney beans and the obligatory cumin, cinnamon, beer, and smoked paprika. Served with tortilla crisps. Reheat soup to serve, R150 per litre (4 cups or 2 generous servings)
