The building where the Karoohaus calls home dates all the way back to 1944. One of its most unique features is the curved corrugated iron roof — originally designed for dams!

Why would a building use that? During the 1940s, materials were scarce due to wartime shortages, so builders got creative. Using available resources like dam sheeting wasn’t just practical — it’s now part of the building’s character and story.
