Plains Zebra (Equus quagga), the most common, roaming Southern and East Africa in huge herds. Not CITES listed.
Mountain Zebra (Equus zebra) ,two subspecies:
• Hartmann's Mountain Zebra ,CITES Appendix II (trade regulated)
• Cape Mountain Zebra, CITES Appendix I (commercial trade banned)
Grévy's Zebra (Equus grevyi) , Africa's largest zebra, found in Kenya & Ethiopia. CITES Appendix I, the highest protection level. Fewer than 2,000 remain in the wild.
