The Soft Life took on a different shape in every Design Pod this year.

Some spaces made a case for slowing down. Others found comfort in colour, texture, pattern or the simple pleasure of having room to gather. Looking back at Cape Town and Joburg, we’ve picked eight ideas that stayed with us, one from each of eight stands.

From landscape-inspired palettes and upholstered walls to bold florals and pleating, these details offer different ways to bring The Soft Life home.

We’re spotlighting this year’s winners of the Decorex Joburg x House and Leisure Awards. In Part 6, Continental Frameless Glass demonstrated how a technical building material can become a defining architectural feature.

Its Decorex Joburg presentation brought product, application and spatial possibility together, helping visitors understand what glass can contribute to a renovation or new build.

We’re spotlighting this year’s winners of the Decorex Joburg x House and Leisure Awards. In Part 5, Poetry Stores Poetry of Living created a stand that felt less like a temporary retail display and more like a complete interior world.

Through considered styling, layered objects and an atmosphere closely connected to the brand’s way of living, the presentation gave visitors a space to enter, explore and imagine as their own.

Santam Insurance brought a playful, interactive experience to Decorex Joburg.

Rather than simply telling visitors about the things that make a home worth protecting, the stand invited them to take part, explore and engage.

It became a reminder that a home is more than its architecture or contents. It’s a collection of objects, memories and everyday rituals that carry meaning far beyond their material value.

Kitchens and bathrooms are no longer treated as purely functional rooms. They’ve become some of the most carefully considered spaces in the home.

At Decorex Africa, exhibitors explored these rooms through material, atmosphere, craftsmanship and intelligent functionality.

From kitchens built for gathering to bathrooms conceived as places of restoration, the show revealed spaces shaped as much by how we want to feel as by what we need them to do.
