On Thursday, we said goodbye to our precious girl, Bubbles. She fought a tremendous battle against cancer with unimaginable strength and grace since her diagnosis in January. Though she gave it her all, the disease returned and spread rapidly in the past two weeks. Even in those final days, through the pain, she never stopped protecting us or showing us love.
Bubbles wasn’t just our dog—she was the B in LBH Studio, the heart and soul of our home, and a once-in-a-lifetime companion. Fiercely loyal, deeply nurturing, and always intuitive, she had an extraordinary gift for sensing when someone was unwell—human or animal—and never left their side until they were okay. She had a soft spot for the weak, the injured, and the sick, always stepping up to care for others, even while hurting herself.
Though small in size, she was a true force to be reckoned with—our little gangster girl. With a teddy bear’s face and a lion’s heart, she made sure every dog in the neighbourhood, big or small, knew who was boss.
We adopted Bubbles and her brother Lenny from a shelter after they’d been abandoned—twice. From day one, they changed our lives in ways we never could have imagined. Bubbles became the caretaker of the whole pack. She policed her siblings when we were away, and we always joked that she could babysit the house better than any camera or alarm.
She lived with such joy and energy—hopping like a bunny when it was time for walkies, recovering like a champ from leg surgery, and always pushing through her pain just to be near us, love us, and keep us safe. She adored the little things: a bowl of food, a splash in a puddle, rolling in the grass, chasing a breeze, crawling under trees, or simply soaking in the sun. Everything was an adventure in her eyes.
I’m so grateful I got to work from home for years and share so many moments with her. We made memories that I will hold in my heart forever. Bubbles taught us how to be present, how to find joy in the smallest things, how to love fiercely and live fully.
We know she’s now at peace, reunited with her brother Hutch, and no longer in pain. But her absence is felt deeply. She was everything good in the world—pure love, loyalty, and courage wrapped in a fluffy little body.
Rest in peace, our sweet protector. You did everything right in life.
