More platter molds on the go — and apparently, “bigger is better” has become the theme! 😂

The round one is a 520mm monster, while the rectangular one comes in at a hefty 610 × 360mm!

At this size, making molds is starting to feel less like moldmaking and more like a gym workout. 💪😂

They may be beasts to move around, but they’re shaping up nicely! 🔨😄

Been doing quite a few platter and plate molds lately!

The process is pretty simple: just send me a profile of the platter or plate, and I use a metal strickle to shape the plaster to the exact profile.

A great way to get consistent, accurate molds for your unique designs.

Material One for the win! 🙌

It’s the simplest system I’ve found for making rigid backings for silicone skin molds.

With the addition of Thixotrope and Retarder, you can fine-tune the consistency of Material One to suit your specific application perfectly.

Building up the silicone ridge that will form the parting line for this mold.

For this project I'm using Foodsil 20 with 1.5% thixotropic additive and a touch of fumed silica to achieve the perfect consistency. The humble piping bag makes applying a neat, consistent bead quick and easy.

It's all about taking your time at this stage—the better the parting line, the better the finished mold.
