High on the mountainside in Merlisau, Sabah, the expansive architecture of the Aloka retreat presented a distinct environmental challenge: severe internal echo and reverberation. In a space dedicated to quiet reflection and meditation, acoustic comfort was just as vital as the view.

Working alongside Clarity Systems, over 400 metres of two-tone acoustic drapery were specified and installed across the ceiling. Suspended horizontally in deep, fluid wave folds, the fabric works structurally to trap sound waves – achieving a Class A acoustic standard under FR-One certification while maintaining a calm, soft visual atmosphere.
