Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Bofred was established in 2014 by Carla Erasmus and Christa Botha. Continuously producing and sourcing new, original work to grow their larger collection, the Bofred studio is an ever-evolving space of contemporary design and curated art. Guided by their fine art background, the Bofred team's design philosophy is reflected in the linear shapes, colours and rich te

xtures of natural hand-crafted materials they use to design – and locally produce – bespoke collections of furniture, lighting, and art. Their design process not only focuses on form and function, but works to accentuate the essence of each piece. QUIVER PLINTH

The Quiver Plinth, a Bofred design from our latest CICADA COLLECTION, is a versatile occasional plinth with hand-rolled solid brass feet detailing. Crafted from solid stainless steel in a brushed finish and polished top.

CICADA is shaped by stillness, texture, and the hushed way in which bold noonday light lingers. Inspired by vast, sun-bleached landscapes, it draws from the subtle shimmer that appears in fleeting moments of pause, a flash of silver against heat and dust. Light that is blindingly bright, yet effortlessly held.The collection brings together sculptural objects designed to live within composed interiors. Existing forms are reinterpreted in metal finishes, while new designs introduce metal as a primary material. Cast aluminium, steel, and metal alloys are softened by textured fabrics and woven surfaces, creating balance between weight and lightness. The atmosphere is expansive and calm, encapsulating heat-worn air, alabaster glare, and deep quiet punctuated by intermittent wing-stirred motion. Objects with presence. Quiet, tactile, and enduring. CICADA is a collection of considered objects. Quiet, tactile, and enduring. Light, gathered and held. Releasing in 2026.

The Sun Singer Chair, a Bofred design and a distinguished piece from our new CICADA COLLECTION.

This sculptural feature chair is made in collaboration with Viking Designs from solid powder-coated aluminium, an upholstered seat and jewellery details in a variation of finishes. These details are in collaboration with Urban Toolshed, forging mild steel and copper into a unique material.

CICADA is a collection shaped by expansive stillness and bold noonday light. Inspired by heat-worn air and alabaster glare, it brings together quiet, tactile objects in brushed metals and softened textures. Sculptural, restrained, and enduring, it is light, gathered, and held.
