A bathroom designed for more than the everyday routine.

The Sacred Pause by Lifestyle Ceramics, KOHLER and Cocoon Lifestyle transformed the bathroom into a place of stillness, restoration and retreat. Through a calming material palette, sculptural forms and beautifully considered details, the space invited visitors to slow down and experience the bathroom as a sanctuary within the home.

Congratulations to Lifestyle Ceramics, Kohler and Cocoon Lifestyle, winners of Best Bathroom Design at Decorex Joburg 2026.

Decorex may be home to some of the biggest names in design, but it’s also a place for emerging makers to be seen, supported and discovered.

At the Capitec Design MRKT, independent designers and small brands brought new objects, craft, homeware, accessories and ideas onto the show floor. Across the halls, small-business development initiatives and projects supported by multiple state enterprises created further opportunities for growing business and makers to meet audiences, build networks and enter the wider design market.

Together they give us a glimpse of the businesses, makers and creative voices that could shape where South African design goes next.

Swipe through to meet some of the emerging names we discovered at Decorex Joburg 2026. If we missed your favourite let us know in the comments.

brought life, colour and character to every level of Decorex Joburg.

From accessible works and emerging names that chalenged the design-art argument at the Capitec Design MRKT, to large-scale pieces animating the Decor Hall and collectible works encountered across 100% Design Africa, art wasn’t confined to a single gallery or feature.

Swipe through for some of the artists and works that brought the halls to life this year.

We’re spotlighting this year’s winners of the Decorex Joburg x House and Leisure Awards, in Part 2 we're asking a question: What if the kitchen felt less like a workspace and more like a place to exhale?

At Decorex Joburg, nuuma kitchens created a softer, more atmospheric vision of the kitchen, shaped around material, mood and the rituals of everyday life.

The stand moved beyond a conventional product display to create a complete interior: calm, inviting and designed as much for gathering and slowing down as it was for cooking.

Congratulations to nuuma, winner of Best Overall Stand Design at Decorex Joburg 2026.

We’re spotlighting this year’s winners of the Decorex Joburg x House and Leisure Awards, starting off strong with NUMU, who approached the kitchen as architecture.

At Decorex Cape Town, the studio created a deeply resolved interior in which proportion, craftsmanship, functionality and material worked together to shape the complete experience.

Rather than allowing cabinetry or appliances to lead, NUMU considered every element as part of a larger spatial composition. The result was a kitchen with presence, precision and a clear point of view.

Congratulations to NUMU, winner of Best Overall Stand Design at Decorex Cape Town 2026.
