What if the garage became the softest room in the house?

At Decorex Cape Town 2026, Lexus South Africa presents The Recharge Garage, a design-led feature that reimagines the garage as more than a place to park.

Anchored by the Lexus RZ 500e, and designed by Tshepo Sealetsa, the space explores the garage as a threshold between movement and home: a place to arrive, pause, restore and reset.

As part of the Decorex VIP upgrade, guests also have access to the Lexus Concierge Service, created to make the VIP show experience smoother, more comfortable and more considered from the moment you arrive.

Experience The Recharge Garage at Decorex Cape Town: A garage, reimagined for The Soft Life.

Textiles, wallpaper and the surfaces that change a room.

Some of the strongest design decisions in a room happen before the furniture arrives. Fabric. Curtain. Upholstery. Wall covering. Pattern. Texture. The surface that shifts the whole atmosphere.

At Decorex Cape Town and 100% Design Africa, textiles and wall coverings come into focus across the floor, from established fabric houses to specialist wallpaper studios and feature installations.

Look out for ROMO South Africa, Robin Sprong Wallpaper, Fabric Bank, Stuart Graham Fabrics, African Jacquard, Constantia Fabrics, Pattern Pop and Wall to Wall.

You’ll also find fabric and surface conversations inside Future Talks, the Discovery South Africa Bank Home Loans DIY Studio, the Soft Life Pods and Ten x Ten.

The bathroom is becoming more personal.

For a long time, it was treated as a room of finishes and fittings: tiles, taps, mirrors, vanities, storage and light. All important, but not the whole story.

Now the bathroom is becoming one of the most intimate rooms in the home: a place for water, pause, privacy, texture, temperature and the small rituals that bookend the day.

At Decorex Cape Town, this is where renovation thinking meets daily ritual. Look out for surfaces, tiles, finishes, fixtures, storage, lighting and practical home-improvement ideas from exhibitors including CTM, Tile Line, Discovery South Africa Bank Home Loans DIY Studio and more.

If you’re rethinking a bathroom, guest loo, shower room, en suite or small private corner of the home, come with questions.
What should feel softer? What should work harder? What should last longer? What should change the way the room feels every morning?

The things you’ll want to take home.

At the Capitec Design Market, Decorex becomes immediately shoppable, because not everything in your home needs a six-week lead time. Some things are simply there to be found, bought, gifted, worn, tasted, carried home and loved.

Come for art, craft, fashion, ceramics, accessories, small objects, homeware and the kind of design-led finds that make a day at Decorex feel even more dangerous.

Look out for Life & Death Gallery Life and Death Art - Savannah Sargent, Mzoe Ceramics, Fijnbos, Margo, WDN Works, Shaden Craft, CAPE MASAI Leather, Darling Sweet, Handpicked Leather, Cocoon South Africa, Rio Largo Olive Estate, Unearthed, Twist 'n Knots by Amina , Made by Milo, Things Gorgeous, Nini, Sit Slouch, Company & Good, Dewdrops, and many, many more.

Come ready to browse. Come ready to shop. Come ready to leave with at least one thing you didn’t know you needed.

62 years of the Santam Child Art Project.

Created in 1963, the Santam Insurance Child Art Project has spent more than six decades encouraging children across South Africa and Namibia to express themselves through art, and giving young imaginations a platform to be seen.

To mark 62 years of this remarkable initiative, Santam is introducing a limited edition range of merchandise featuring children’s artworks, with a portion of proceeds going towards funding art classes for children from disadvantaged communities.

At Decorex Cape Town and Joburg, this becomes part of a broader story about creativity, care, and the importance of making space for the next generation of dreamers.

The next generation of South African design is heading to Paris.

Following the announcement of the international jury for the Maison&Objet Rising Talent Awards 2026, we’re proud to share the seven South African laureates selected for this year’s edition.

Working across furniture, collectible design, lighting, ceramics and material-led exploration, these emerging creatives offer a vivid picture of where South African design is going: rooted in craft, shaped by cultural memory, and moving confidently into new forms of contemporary expression.

The 2026 South African laureates are:
Meetlo Studios
Simphiwe Mlambo
Studio Lloyd
Deft Studios
Karlien van Rooyen
Nish Design
Pineda Design

Selected by a jury including Decorex Africa's Executive Creative Directors Alan Hayward & Garreth David , alongside Anna Weylandt, Donald Nxumalo Interior Design, jmkavishe, Thabisa Mjo, Stéphane Galerneau and Gareth Pearson, the laureates represent a dynamic new chapter for South African design on the global stage.

Discover their work live at Maison&Objet Pulse, 10–14 September 2026, in the Design District.

A proud moment for South African design, and an exciting continuation of Decorex Africa and 100% Design Africa’s partnership with Maison&Objet.
