Several years ago I started a Fire Bag…but it was put to the side for a few months and my beading had improved to the point that I couldn’t go back and work on it as would have bothered me to see the difference in beadwork 🤦🏽‍♀️ last month I started a new one, and it will match the rest of my regalia. Eventually I will have matching moccasins, yoke, belt, earrings and a smoking cap.

I am so grateful to all the folks I have had the pleasure to learn from over the last few years, so that I am able to create these pieces that will be able to be passed down in my family.

I have been able to reclaim some of our family floral patterns that I can incorporate into my pieces, keeping our ancestors alive ❤️

SOLD OUT!

Finally!!! The anticipation is over! Natural dyed Reindeer hair packages are now available 🎉🎉

These have been dyed using natural dyes - you can take a look at my previous posts where I featured each of the dyes. It is important to note that these are dyes, they are color fast and will not fade or discolour (much like the Rit dyes).

Fugitive dyes (think berries, spinach, beets, turmeric) while they all produce beautiful colors initially, they will quickly fade to undesirable colors, and we definitely don’t want that for our beautiful jewelry, or other projects that this hair will be used in.

With that being said, in order to dye the hair naturally, it requires a much more labor intensive process: scouring, mordanting, dyeing, rinsing and drying. To get to the dyeing process takes significantly longer than using chemical dyes. And the dyes are more expensive to work with.

So, these packages are $140/each, or 2/$265, which includes tracked shipping within Canada. And I have a number of shipping boxes on hand so I can likely provide tracking numbers the same day payment is received. I am able to accept both E-transfer and PayPal for payments. Photos will be deleted upon payment, so if you see the package you want, it is available.

If you are wanting hair in a more affordable price range, I also dyed a bunch of hair using it dyes(see previous posts for all those packages - and it is also pinned to the top of my page).

Next time I will add in some blues and greens. Indigo dyeing is another layer of dyeing and I didn’t have time this round!
