We've just taken delivery of a hand-picked collection of mirrors and lamps - the kind of pieces you don't always find without looking quite hard for them.

This one is the Amelia. Large circular mirror, metal black frame, inset detail. £350.

There's more to come from this delivery over the next few weeks. Every piece chosen with the same care.

Have you seen Little Greene's new Perpetual Blue yet?

It's one of 26 new shades launched this autumn. A mid-to-deep blue with a quiet green undertone that shifts through the day as the light moves. Blue in the morning, a hint of green by afternoon, something closer to slate on a grey Yorkshire day.

Not the same colour twice. That's what makes it interesting.

The provenance is rather good too - it was sampled from Sir Winston Churchill's own paint palette, found at his studio at Chartwell in Kent.

If it's caught your eye, come and see it properly. We stock Little Greene brushboards in every colour and finish, so you can hold the colour against your own walls, in your own light, before committing to a tin. Colour looks different on a brushboard in your room than it ever does on a screen. The green undertone especially can surprise you depending on which way your room faces.

This is what the beginning of a scheme looks like.

Fabrics layered on the table. Textures placed next to each other to see how they sit. A carpet sample alongside a printed linen. A Novamobili finish in the mix. All of it chosen carefully - not from one collection, not to a formula - but built specifically around one client, one room, one brief that belongs to nobody else.

It's something we do every day here. Helping clients work out what they actually want - and then making sure every piece in the room earns its place. Some people arrive knowing exactly how they want a space to feel but not quite knowing how to get there. Others aren't sure where to start at all. Either way, that's what the conversation is for.

You saw how it's made. This is the one we kept.

The Lugano chair sitting in our showroom right now is upholstered in Jane Churchill's Cleo - an animal spot velvet. Deep, tactile, a bit glamorous. Totally different to the Kilver we showed you in the making post. Same chair. Very different mood.

This fabric must be seen rather than described. And once you're in the chair, you'll understand why the Lugano started life as a request - a client who wanted something with a deeper seat and a frame you actually want to spend time in.

Two fabrics that just work together.

The curtains are in Lamballe - leaves and flowers climbing a stem, the tones shifting depending on where the light falls. The chair in Odile - narrow stripes with a trailing bud running through them. Different in character, but they sit comfortably side by side.

It's right there on the frame if you look closely.

Parker Knoll.

Founded 1869. Royal commissions. The RMS Queen Mary. The BBC. A name people saved up for - not because they were told to, but because they'd seen one in someone's house and knew. That's a different kind of wanting.

The polished wood came back from dark to light - back to its original teak. That decision alone changed how the chair sits in the room. And then GP & J Baker's Tetbury went on. Spruce colourway. Understated enough to live with every day - and still catching your eye six months later.

One of our recent clients put it well after a similar job: "the care taken to improve on what was there... the quality of the work and attention to detail were second to none." That's about all you can ask for, really.

This is what re-upholstery actually looks like before it looks like anything at all.

Hundreds of staples out. Foam that had long since given up. And underneath it - a frame that's still completely solid. That's the thing about furniture that was made properly. Strip it right back and it still holds.

Most people only see the finished chair. They don't see this part - the hours of work before a single piece of new fabric goes near it. We don't skip it. You can't, not if you want the result to last.

Now - does anyone recognise the make?

It's a well-known British name. One people genuinely saved up for. Drop your answer in the comments - we'll reveal it, and the finished result, in our next post.

You get home. Draw the curtains. Switch on the overhead light.

And then you notice it - that flatness. The room that looked perfectly fine in August, when the light was doing most of the work. Same room. Doesn't feel the same.

Lighting is the thing people sort last. It should probably be the first.

A good lamp doesn't just add light. It adds layers - a pool of warmth in one corner, something to draw the eye, a reason to stay in the room rather than drift elsewhere. Done properly, the room just feels right.

Romantic in mood and unmistakably French in character - stylised floral trails, graceful stripe compositions, archive-inspired motifs drawn from the elegance of 18th-century France. It works beautifully across decorative fabrics and co-ordinating wallpapers.

Because of how we work with Osborne & Little, new pattern books reach us the moment they're out. We wouldn't have it any other way.

Coral and sage, flamestitch weave - new in the showroom.

We've just finished upholstering this sofa table here in our Beverley workshop, in Colefax & Fowler's Dexter fabric. That flamestitch pattern - bold zigzag gradations woven from a wide palette of coloured yarns - shifts quite beautifully depending on the light. Striking without overwhelming, if that makes sense.

Made and finished by us. £485.
