Here’s Jan, our unequivocally elegant Saturday morning Ho**er in her latest make. She braved the heat this week to come and show us all her finished crocheted garment and she looks increds in it, as expected.

Thank you for being part of The Yarnery Jan, we love you beyond words.

Who else is bold enough to knit or crochet an entire garment in black yarn? Who?!

It’s a degree cooler today in Chester which means that we can all cast on a new project. I read the handbook and that’s definitely what it says.

The Yarnery will be open today from 10:30 - 5:00 and if you haven’t seen the latest changes yet, you’re gonna love it here!

See you soon, Yarnies…

Oh look! It’s Alma looking incredible in her James C. Brett Marble Chunky crochet make.

Alma picks the best projects. Always different, always with a pattern that stretches her skills and calls for different yarn weights and tension and ALWAYS something beautiful.

She made this for her mum 💚

Wait til you see what she’s working on now…

I have NOT been hot on the socials for a while. It’s been a wild couple of weeks with the start of the shop extension and a big move around but we’ve had a few lovely workshops that I haven’t shouted about yet.

Last night we welcomed 10 crocheters to come and learn how to add seed beads to their projects. It was lovely that we all got something to take away with us at the end and hopefully it’s a technique that the workshoppers will use again in future makes.

We worked from Janie Crow patterns with the recommended Rico Design yarns and Debbie Abrahams beads.

What do you think of the results?

Glorious beaded crochet work by Karen from my Friday day time Ho**ers classes. She’s been following a Janie Crow pattern and using Rico Design creative cottons to create these motifs. How lovely!

Who’s coming to Wednesday evening’s class where we will work from Janie Crow’s patterns to create our own? I’ve got some beautiful Debbie Abrahams beads for us to play with and of course we will using Rico cotton in your choice of colours.

I’m super excited to get you all beading!

Can we please all just take a minute this morning to tell Amber, my Tuesday evening Ho**er, how incredible her hedgehog crochet make is?

I’m so proud of you Amber, I know how hard you worked on this little guy and your patience has paid off. I hope you enjoyed making him as much as we all enjoyed meeting him this week!

Name my new fisherman!

After a couple of months of testing patterns, trying knitting techniques and making samples for the shop I wanted to get back to what I love and what comes naturally to me.

Amigurumi is my safe space.

I’m all about crocheting or knitting for the sake of it. Not for this or that or them, just because it feels good and scratches an itch that nothing else can.

I’ve started working through the patterns in Natasha Tishchenko’s book, Aquatic Amigurumi, and it’s bringing me ALL the joy.

Meet my latest crochet creation…

Better together 🤲🏼

I’m a chronic yarn pairer. I can’t help myself. Every day I’m here just caking things together like it ain’t no thing and honestly I couldn’t be happier with the results of my labour.

Kid Silk Haze by Rowan Yarns and Wonderball Melange by Rico Design. The silk adds just the right amount of sensational to the pair but the variegated woolly base tones of the Rico yarn still do most of the talking.

My Afternoon Purler Gabrielle is working on making this duo in to something glorious. I’ll keep you updated!

Quite important news:

We’ve been working on making the shop bigger. It’s been a job! This week we will be building/moving furniture around so that we can make sure it’s ready for the beginning of the summer and so that you can enjoy an even more fabulous Yarny experience at The Yarnery.

We will be closed all day on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd May to ensure that we can do this safely. This means that there will be no morning Ho**ers or Afternoon Purlers on either of those two days.

Quick recap of next week:

Tuesday: 10:30 - 3:30
Wednesday: 10:30 - 3:30
Thursday: CLOSED
Friday: CLOSED
Saturday: 10:30 - 5:00

All of next week’s evening sessions will go ahead as planned.

Come and get what you need today before our big shake up! I’ll be here from 10:30 - 5:00 and can’t wait to welcome you all.
