Level 2 is the next step after the Beginners sewing Course and covers garment making skills...zips, pockets, gathers, pleats.

The final make - your choice of garment make in your own size using our SewingNi original patterns - our pull on trouser with side pockets is the most popular!

🙄🤦 FORGET adjusting EVERY pattern you buy!🤦 🙄

We do things differently (and kinda always have...) ✂️

FIRST....we'll teach you lots of Pattern Cutting tools and techniques.
You will learn how to:
Adjust darts
Add fullness / Remove fullness
Create panel seams
Cut sleeves
Cut collars and facings
Create openings.
You will mock up (toile) these techniques and see them on your body stand.

THEN...you will make up your own personal calico body toile and we will fit and adjust your base body Block Pattern together.

FINALLY...you will design and cut your own first pattern using your own personal block and using the techniques learned.

IN THIS WAY....you will KNOW that every pattern you create will fit you and your body perfectly, EVERY time. This will be your starting pattern for every top, jacket dress pattern in your future.

Diane is a professional Creative Pattern Cutter still working in the Fashion and Costume for 30+ years who has set up SewingNi to pass on her knowledge and skills to promote individuality and sustainability in design. Participants should have the equivalent of our Level 2/intermediate sewing ability.

Each Monday 1st-29th June
Morning 10am-1pm
Or
Evening 6-9pm

3-day Course:
Wednesday 29th-Friday 31st July
10am-5pm daily.

Cost £245 pp
Deposit of £125 required on booking.

We are in Coleraine town centre with parking nearby and just 10 mins walk from train/bus station.

Morning class 10am-12.30pm
OR
Evening class 6pm-8.30pm

You'll learn from the very beginning.

£100pp , £55 deposit required on booking

This course will cover:
Workshop Safety
Setting up the machine
Troubleshooting machine tension
Sewing
Sewing seams
Hems
Topstitching
Using scissors, pins, chalk
Sewing around shaped pieces (make a cloth wallet)
How to press not iron
Have a go at overlocking
Introduction to patterns and pattern markings
Laying Up and cutting out

Make your own final piece...choice of Pyjama Shorts /trousers in your usual size (Adult Male, Female and children's patterns available), Apron, Cushion, Tote Bag.
We'll happily advise you on the fabric you need to purchase. We also have some pre-prepared packs available to buy but these are not compulsory.

All machines and equipment are supplied. You may find it useful to bring a notebook and pen to jot down ideas and make notes.

Refreshments are provided - please message in advance if you have any dietary particulars.
