To our valued customers and community,
This is a post I never wanted to write.
For a long time, I have quietly helped people who were struggling by providing free food whenever I could. My intention was simply to support those in genuine need and give something back to the community that has supported my business.
Unfortunately, over the past few days, a small number of individuals have repeatedly taken advantage of this kindness. We have experienced abuse, threats, racist language, intimidation of staff, damage to our property and also damage my car as well and even threats of false reviews if free food was not provided. Today, the situation became so serious that the police had to be contacted after further threats and vandalism.
This has been upsetting not only for me, but also for my staff and customers who have witnessed these incidents.
Because of these experiences, I have made the difficult decision to stop providing free food to people who simply come into the shop asking for it. This especially applies to groups who repeatedly visit while intoxicated and create disturbances.
I want to make it clear that I have not stopped caring about people who are genuinely homeless or in real need. I will continue to help where I can, but I will do so privately and through different arrangements that do not put my staff, customers, or business at risk.
It saddens me that the actions of a few people have made this necessary, but the safety of my team and customers must come first.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us, shown understanding, and continued to stand by our business.
This post is specially for drunken people.
