🌟 Volunteer Spotlight – Meet Julie ✂️🧵

As part of , we’re celebrating the incredible people who give their time, skills and energy to ReTweed.

Meet Julie's, one of our amazing volunteers 🙌

In Julie’s words:

"I’ve always done some sort of volunteering, even when I was working full time. I feel that if you can give something back to the community, go for it — you never know when you might need help yourself.

With ReTweed, I love being part of my ReTweed family and seeing how ReTweed changes so many lives. I’ve made so many friendships — with people still at ReTweed and others who’ve moved on but I still keep in touch with.

I don’t have a favourite part — I love being at ReTweed on a Wednesday (usually turning the air blue! 😂), but I also love going out into the community and seeing the delight on people’s faces when they’ve made something."

A huge thank you to Julie, and to all our volunteers (past & present) for your time, laughter, skills, encouragement and support you bring to ReTweed. You help make our community what it is, we simply couldn't do it without you ❤️

Our beautiful peg bags and large zipped pouches have arrived in gorgeous bird & floral prints 🌸🐦

Lovingly handmade by our current Main Course students, each piece represents more than just a practical accessory. Through learning new skills, upcycling fabric that would otherwise go to waste, and creating together, our students are building confidence and strengthening community connections ♻️❤️

With the sun shining, it’s the perfect time to get your washing out with one of our peg bags ☀️👕 — or pick up a zipped pouch, ideal for holidays, travel or everyday essentials ✈️👝

Looking for a space to get creative? Join our relaxed, self-led creative workshop sessions.

You don’t need to be working on a sewing project, bring along any creative or crafty project you’d like to work on. 🎨🧵✂️

🗓️ Thursdays | 10am – 2pm

Our workshop space includes:
🪡 8 hireable sewing machines
🪑 Desk workspace
✂️ Access to sewing tools, scissors, threads, buttons, ribbons & more

💷 £6 per person – includes use of a sewing machine

Half way through our Community Course at Greenlaw and what a fantastic few weeks it’s been so far! ✨🧵

We started by getting to know each other and learning our way around the sewing machines. In week one, everyone created their own pin cushions and drawstring bags, a brilliant start!

Since then, we’ve moved on to our sample & skills week, followed by making zipped pouches and beautiful luxury tote bags. The creativity and confidence growing each week has been amazing to see.

This week, we begin our appliqué cushions and we can’t wait to watch everyone’s creativity, skills, and personality come to life through their designs. ❤️🪡

All products are made using textiles saved from landfill and are available to buy in the ReTweed shop ♻️ Every purchase helps support ReTweed, with all money made going back into the organisation so more women can benefit from our training courses and opportunities.
