Yesterday I shared a lovely comment from one of my email subscribers and today I’ve added a wonderful testimonial to my website.

As a small business owner, kind words never lose their magic.

Whether you’ve bought a piece of jewellery, attended a workshop, visited the shop or received a gift made my me, your feedback helps other people discover Claire Howard Jewellery and gives me a boost on days when I’m wondering if anyone is listening!

If you’ve enjoyed your experience, I’d be incredibly grateful if you’d consider leaving a google review.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share their thoughts already. I read every single and appreciate them more than you know.

I’ve added the link in the comments below.

“ Wow, these photos of your jewellery being worn look fantastic, I really think it will make it so much easier to choose which pieces will work for oneself or as a gift. It looks very professional! “

Last night’s stud earrings workshop turned into rather more of an adventure than any of us had planned when we were hit by a power cut just before we were due to start!

Thankfully, I had plenty of rescue plans up my sleeve, and my wonderful students took it all completely in their stride. There was a lot of laughter, a few dashes across the road to the cinema to boil water for the pickle pots, and more than one cheer when the lights finally came back on.

A huge thank you to Andy at the cinema for patiently boiling my kettle numerous times, but my biggest thanks go to my fabulous students. Their patience, positivity and good humour turned what could have been a nightmare into part of the adventure.

And the best part? Once the power was restored, we could finally see just how beautiful their earrings had turned out. I think you’ll agree they were worth the wait!

Take a look at their creations. ✨

I loved making this special necklace. It was a gift for a special birthday and they knew exactly what they wanted to gift their granddaughter.

I love it when customers come in with a plan!

This is my Highland Heart- I wax carved the heart whilst up on the very north coast of Scotland during Storm Floris. It’s beautifully weighty and the t bar is designed to either be visible or hidden at the back of your neck. Personally I like it to the side of the heart. ❤️

Russian bangles

A favourite one from the archives! I made these Russian bangles for the bride, bride’s sister and bride’s mother. It was all the more special as the bride’s mother was a school teacher colleague of mine.

The intertwined Russian bangles are made up of three interlocking bands that move freely around one another. It is said to have originated in Russia during the 19th century and has become a symbol of enduring love and connection.

This bangle is still a favourite of mine to make and to wear- you can take a closer look at it here online or pop in and have a try on!

A little reminder from behind the bench…

Yesterday was one of those wonderfully full days. I spent the day on a jewellery photoshoot I’ve been planning for a long time, followed by Small’s cricket training in the evening. Today has been spent with the lovely Megan making some very exciting (and very secret!) jewellery.

In the middle of all that, I received several emails from a customer wondering why I hadn’t replied.

The truth is that I didn’t check my emails yesterday after 8am until after lunchtime today.

Running a small business means wearing lots of hats. Some days I’m making jewellery, teaching workshops, packing orders, meeting customers, taking photographs, doing admin, or simply being Mum. Like most people, I’m doing my best to fit everything into the hours available.

I always aim to reply to emails within 24 hours, and usually much sooner. Occasionally, especially during weekends, school holidays, workshops or events, it may take a little longer.

Most people are wonderfully understanding, and I’m very grateful for that. We live in a world of instant messages and notifications, but behind this business is just one person, a workbench, a shop, a kettle, and a rather long to-do list.

Thank you for your patience when life gets busy. I promise I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Today I spent the day with Richard photographing my jewellery being worn — and it felt really special.

Professional model photography is something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time, but as with many small businesses, it’s one of those things that often sits on the “one day” list whilst other priorities come first.

Thanks to funding through the Retail Growth Programme via High Streets Matter — a government and council-backed initiative supporting independent businesses — I was finally able to make it happen.

Richard and I have been planning this photoshoot for quite a while, so it was wonderful to see everything come together today. Seeing my jewellery worn by such beautiful women, styled and photographed so thoughtfully, was a real pinch-me moment.

I can’t wait to start sharing the photographs with you over the next few weeks and adding them to my website. I think they’ll help tell the stories behind the jewellery in a whole new way.

Today I have felt like these snippets of silver!

I hope you’ve found a lovely cool place, once the blinds are down in the shop and the fan is on, it’s a beautifully cool spot to be in- and the cellar is ice cold!
