It’s the last day in our little shop down the alleyway! 🥹❤️

For four wonderful years, 11a High Street has been Fully Woolly’s home, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better little shop to start our business in.

It’s seen us through the quiet days and the wonderfully busy ones, heatwaves and freezing winters, countless workshops, mountains of yarn and more rearranging of shelves than I care to remember! 😂🧶

We’ve squeezed something into every spare inch we possibly could… but the time has finally come to admit that we’ve outgrown it. 🥹

So today we’ll close the door at 11a High Street for the very last time, ready to start our exciting next chapter just down the road. ❤️

Come and see us before 4:30pm today (Thursday 27th August) to grab one last bargain in our Big Summer Blowout Sale and say goodbye to our little shop down the alleyway.

If you didn’t know already… 𝗪𝗘’𝗥𝗘 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚! 🥳🧶📦

Our little shop down the alleyway will close its doors for the final time at 𝟰:𝟯𝟬𝗽𝗺 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄, 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁, and our shiny new shop on Pylewell Road will open at 𝟵𝗮𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿! 🎉

That means we’ll be CLOSED Friday & Saturday while we move everything across and get the new shop ready for you.

So make sure you swing by tomorrow to grab your weekend supplies, say one last goodbye to the old shop AND take advantage of the final day of our Big Summer Blowout Sale! 👀🧶

🧶 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝘀𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆

Don’t throw away your ball band! 🏷️

With moving chaos in full swing this week, I'm surrounded by rather a lot of balls of yarn... so let's talk about that little piece of paper wrapped around each one! 📦🧶

It might be tempting to chuck your ball band away as soon as you've cast on, but there's a surprising amount of useful information hiding on it.

Depending on the yarn, you'll usually find things like:
🧶 Fibre content – what your yarn is actually made from
⚖️ Weight & meterage – particularly handy if you need to substitute it later
🪡 Suggested needle or hook size – a useful starting point, although not a rule!
📏 Tension/gauge – how the yarn is expected to work up
🫧 Care instructions – VERY useful when you've forgotten whether that jumper can go anywhere near the washing machine 😅
🎨 Shade & dye lot – essential if you suddenly realise you need another ball!

And that's why I always recommend hanging onto your ball bands, especially while a project is still on the needles.

💡 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝘀𝗱𝗼𝗺:
When you've finished your project, keep the ball band together with a little leftover yarn. If you ever need to mend it, you'll know exactly what you used AND have some matching yarn ready for the repair!

Happy Tuesday — our last Tuesday in the little shop!

We’re down to our final 3 days in our little shop down the alleyway before we close from Friday 28th August ready for the big move! 🥹

We might not be moving very far, but it certainly feels like the start of a whole new adventure — and we’re getting VERY excited to show you what we’ve been working on! ✨🧶

Before then, make sure you pop in by close on Thursday to make the most of our Big Summer Blowout Sale. There are still plenty of bargains to be found… and every ball of yarn you take home is one less we have to move. 😉📦

I know I'm in the middle of moving shops right now, and I probably should be focusing on much more important (and urgent!) jobs... 😅

BUT, ever since our first Romantasy Book Club, I've been itching to create something suitably romantasy-themed! 📚🌙✨

So, after a few chats with friends and a bit of playing around with ideas...
Introducing the 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘄𝘆𝗿𝗺 𝗕𝗮𝗴! 🐉📖

The bag itself is knitted in a beautiful, subtly sequinned yarn, but the fun really starts afterwards! The pattern will come with 6 romantasy-inspired charts that you can Swiss darn onto your finished bag.

Choose your favourites, decide where to put them, use as many or as few as you like, or even create your own — making every Bookwyrm Bag a little bit different! ✨

The pattern is being tested as we speak, so it's not quite ready yet... but I was far too excited about it to keep it to myself. 😂

Just 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞 𝗟𝗘𝗙𝗧 in our little shop down the alleyway! 🥹

We've been busy painting and decorating our big new shop for the last week or two. And when I say we, I really mean my wonderful husband and parents! They've been doing the brunt of the hard work whilst I've been manning the shop 🎨

Our little shop will close its doors for the final time on 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁, ready for the big move on Friday, and our 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗣 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 🎉

🧶 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝘀𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 🧶
𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗬𝗮𝗿𝗻: 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘀 “𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘆” 𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴?

Last week we talked about British wool and why softer doesn’t always mean better. But what about those yarns that feel a little more… sticky? 🐑

When knitters talk about a “sticky” wool, we don’t mean it’s actually sticky! 😅 We’re talking about wool where the fibres have a little more grip and naturally like to hold onto one another.

And sometimes, that’s exactly what you want.

✨ Colourwork
A grippier wool helps the stitches and floats stay in place, making it brilliant for traditional Fair Isle and other stranded colourwork.

✂️ Steeking
Yes… CUTTING your knitting! 😱 A woolly, grippy yarn is ideal for steeking because the fibres naturally cling together, helping to secure the fabric when it’s cut.

🧶 Structured garments
Wool with plenty of grip and bounce can help garments hold their shape rather than becoming too drapey.

🐑 Warm, woolly projects
Those fibres trap lots of lovely insulating air, helping to create cosy, warm fabric.

So next time you squeeze a ball of yarn and think “Ooh, that’s a bit woolly…” don’t write it off! That texture might be exactly what your project needs.
