Jim and I have came to Seahouses for a last week of R&R before next week when I can I drive again and I get back into the swing of things at KP, I’m so ready to get back to it. I can’t thank Rose, Sian and Paula enough for helping out and I thank you all for your support 🥰
Highlight so far on our trip was a catch up with Alice at her beautiful new store, Whistlebare Fold in Berwick on Tweed. It was the perfect place for Jim to sit in front of the fire while I pondered what to buy-I decided on this Yeavering Bell dk, a blend of mohair and Wensleydale wool from Whistlebare Northumberland's Finest Yarns own sheep and goats. The colour is Dragons Breath. I’m going to knit a plain ribbed hat for winter. I couldn’t resist the little project bag too 😉 The coffee at Whistlebare is definitely the best around!

What a beautiful scarf! Dervla used the Crazy Zauberball starke 6 knitted together with the Silky Cat mohair to make this absolute beauty -it’s the Sophie scarf! So many possibilities with that pattern! I adore it! Thanks for letting me get the pic Dervla 🤗

Free until 10am tomorrow, this is such a great shawl to knit 👏

The joys of the FFFS (read to the end for a treat)

If you haven't yet knit a Fuss Free Festival Shawl you might be wondering what all the fuss is about.

Originally it was designed for a dyer at the Edinburgh Yarn Festival - we wanted a pattern that was simple enough to be cast on at a festival. You know the times when you find a perfect skein of hand-dyed sockweight yarn and you want to cast on immediately for the journey home.

It's that kind of project.

Squishy, stretchy garter stitch
Works well with hand dyed yarn, speckles or stripes
Easy to memorise increases
A wearable, asymmetric crescent shape
Over the years I have adapted it for a two skein version and a two-colour striped version (which is in the PDF) and knitters have been endlessly inventive with how they have interpreted the pattern.

If you haven't knit one yet maybe I can persuade you to have a go - I'm willing to bet you have the perfect skein of yarn already sitting, waiting in your stash.

Another show and tell. How gorgeous does Teresa look in her newly knitted top? I have one of these myself and I love it. Teresa is now knitting up another in a different colourway. The yarn is King Cole Hedgerow chunky, we have the yarn and pattern instore. We’re open tomorrow from 10am 😃

Can you believe this beautiful shawl is the first crochet Gemma has ever done? The girls a natural 🩷 Gemma used the King Cole Curiosity cakes and it’s perfect!
