5 tips for running a snail mail club 📮

I’ve been running By the Seasons for 8 months now, and I’ve learned a lot in that time!

I get quite a few messages from people who are thinking about starting their own mail club, asking how I plan everything, keep on top of the workload, or manage all the different moving parts each month. So I sat down and properly thought about the things that have made the biggest difference for me and these are my top 5 tips.

None of this is a rule book, and I definitely don’t think there’s one right way to run a mail club. Everyones process is different. These are just the things that have helped me actually run my club, month after month, without completely losing the plot.

If you run a mail club, creative business, or anything else with a lot of moving parts, I’d love to know what you swear by too!

There is something so special about autumn, the rain, the leaves turning astonishing colours, a hot chocolate on a cold day, bobble hats, and pumpkin spice ☕️

It will always be my favourite season and I will always embrace it wholly and whimsically ✨️

5 things I love about running a mail club 📮💌

Mail clubs are known for being challenging to run, they require time, passion, creativity, organisation, and a whole lot of printing! I have totally fallen in love with the process, yes it's difficult, but I really do genuinely love it so much.

I love that my weeks rarely look the same, that I’m constantly being pushed creatively, and that making something designed to encourage other people to notice the seasons has made me pay even more attention to them myself.

And, more than anything, I love that there are real people at the other end of those envelopes. Every message, photo of an artwork on a wall, recipe tried, or comment about an edition means so much to me.

By the Seasons is my monthly seasonal mail club, created for anyone who wants to feel a little more connected to the world around them.

Every month I illustrate, write, print, cut and pack an entirely new edition, filled with seasonal artwork, field notes, recipes, rituals, stickers and a little something extra. Something for you to open slowly and read with a cuppa on a Sunday morning.

The September edition is all about that lovely in-between, the last of summer alongside the very first hints of autumn. It includes a bonus fact sheet all about foxes, a cauliflower taco recipe, and rituals such as creating a cosy autumn playlist for the season ahead.
