🎨 A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MADE MAKER: GARRY EDITION! 😂

Ever wondered what our makers get up to when they're on duty at League HQ?

Well, we've asked Garry to document a typical day in the shop, starting with the essential equipment he brings along.

His supplies include:

🍰 Fruit cake. Obviously.
🪨 A bag of clay. Reasonable enough.
🔪 A long, thin, pointy thing.
🤔 A mysterious funnel-shaped contraption.
🧽 A sponge.
🫖 An assortment of teapots, cups and other pottery-related gubbins.

We're assuming most of these things have a legitimate purpose.

The fruit cake is clearly the most important.

And somehow, from this collection of seemingly random objects, Garry manages to create actual works of art!

🌪️ THE GREAT MADE STORM REPORT! 🌪️

Well, that was a bit breezy, wasn't it?! 💨😂

Following the weekend's rather enthusiastic weather, we've been checking in with the Made tribe to see how everyone survived.

And we're pleased to report that most of us are still roughly where we started.

Here's the official post-storm report from our correspondents...

🐝 SUE: Took the sensible precaution of strapping down her beehives. We're assuming the bees were less than impressed with the whole experience.

🏠 STACEY: Up on Clee Hill, was simply grateful to emerge with her roof still attached to the house. Sometimes it's the little things.

🍂 GARRY: Rather prematurely declared that the winds had missed him. They hadn't. He retreated to his shed to make Christmas decorations whilst trying very hard not to think about the approximately 47 million leaves that would be waiting for him outside.

🌳 ALLY: Adopted the highly effective strategy of ignoring the fallen trees near her house. If she didn't look at them, they weren't there. Problem solved.

💨 NINA: All the way up in Penrith, was apparently clinging on for dear life. We're hoping she's still somewhere in Cumbria or has at least blown in the direction of home!

And that concludes the official League HQ storm debrief.

In all seriousness, we hope everyone came through it safely and without too much damage. ❤️

League HQ is preparing for the festive season, and we're wondering...WHO'S OUT THERE MAKING CHRISTMAS LOVELINESS THAT WE HAVEN'T DISCOVERED YET?! 👀🎅

We're looking for talented local makers who create beautiful, genuinely handmade Christmas and winter-themed goodies and might fancy joining us at Made at No.16 for a little festive stint! ❤️

We're keeping this one deliberately open because we'd love to see what people come up with!

🎁 Unusual handmade Christmas gifts

💐 A LITTLE FAREWELL FROM LEAGUE HQ ❤️

We're going to be saying goodbye to Rose & Ben at the end of October, which means there's just a little time left to enjoy Charlie's beautiful dried flower creations here at Made. 💐

From gorgeous bouquets to those rather fabulous broomstick displays, Charlie has brought some lovely floral touches to League HQ, and we'll be sad to see her go. ❤️

But while Rose & Ben might be leaving our shelves, they're certainly not disappearing!

Did you know Charlie also creates beautiful wedding flowers? 💍💐

❤️ THE THINGS YOU DON'T SEE

When you walk into Made, you see shelves full of beautiful handmade things curated into lovely displays with everything having its rightful place...

What you don't see is everything that happens behind the scenes to get them there.

The hours spent making, sewing, painting, designing, creating, packaging, pricing, rearranging and occasionally wondering where on earth we've put something.

Late nights, the abandoned cups of tea, the ideas that worked brilliantly and the ones that, well, let's just say they were learning experiences. 😂

And sometimes that means the view from behind the counter looks slightly less like a beautiful handmade shop and slightly more like the aftermath of a small explosion in a craft cupboard. 😳

Stacey may never forgive us for sharing photographic evidence of this.

And yes, before anyone asks, that IS an unopened box of peppermint tea lurking amongst the rapidly disappearing coffee supplies. Nicky bought it during a brief period of believing she could cut down on caffeine. The box remains unopened. The coffee does not! We think that tells you everything you need to know. 😂☕

But that's the bit we rather love.

Because Made isn't just about the things on the shelves. It's about the people who put them there. ❤️

🚨 **URGENT APPEAL FROM LEAGUE HQ** 🚨 Ok, maybe not urgent!

We have a situation.

A rather large number of buttons have found themselves WITHOUT A HOME. 🥺

All colours. All shapes. All sizes.
Some sensible. Some slightly questionable. All hoping someone will give them a second chance. ❤️

So we've officially opened...

For just £5, you can fill one of our stripey bags with as many buttons as you can squeeze in.

What will you do with them?

🍂 THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE AIR AT LEAGUE HQ 🎃

We've had a few new arrivals at Made, and apparently some of the makers have decided it's officially spooky season. 😂

🧹 Rose & Ben have brought in TWO gorgeous dried flower broomstick displays.

We're not saying they're for witches, but we haven't ruled out the possibility of someone flying off on one.

🎃 Bobe has joined in with some Halloween fabric bibs, because even the smallest members of the family deserve to look suitably spooky while throwing their dinner around. 😂

And there's plenty of other lovely newness appearing around the shop too!

So here's a little peek at what's been arriving at League HQ.

No tricks. Just treats. ❤️

Although if one of those broomsticks goes missing, we'll know Stacey's found a quicker way to get to the coffee shop. 🧹😂

👀 THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS.

I'm sitting behind the counter at League HQ looking at this wall and SOMETHING IS DIFFERENT.

I know it is.

It doesn't look like it did the last time I was here.

But can I work out WHAT is different?

NO.

I've stared at it for so long now that I've reached the point where I'm questioning absolutely everything. 😂

Has something moved?
Has something disappeared?
Has something new appeared?
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, STACEY?!

Worst of all, I don't have a before photo, so I'm essentially playing the world's most infuriating game of Spot the Difference with only one picture. 🤦‍♀️😂

Please tell me somebody else can see it, because I am NOT leaving League HQ until I've worked this out. 👀
