This is the last image I took of Whitby’s iconic Whalebones before they are removed today, having now been deemed unsafe.

For generations, these bones have stood as one of Whitby’s most recognisable landmarks — a striking reminder of the town’s long and complicated relationship with the sea and its whaling history.

It feels incredibly sad to know that this view will soon be gone. Whatever their future may hold, I’m grateful to have captured them one last time. Come and see the image in our shop in Hill Street Centre.

Farewell to a little piece of Whitby’s character and history. 🐋🖤

From beautifully decorated pottery to beaded bags and decorated plaques Sam creates pieces that are truly unique, colourful and full of character. Each design has its own special charm, with different styles and techniques to discover.

Meet Chaos! Now in Gallery TS1

'My name is Chaos!'

Pyrography and watercolour on plywood.

I *had* name him Chaos...no other name would suit this troublesome house panther more 😁🐈‍⬛🐆

The cats wide and round saucer-like green-gold eyes are watercolour, and the smiling cat has his mouth wide open with his pink tongue and teeth all showing. The background is a dusky grey/pink with brown edges which have been burnt around the heart. There is a hole visible with a beaded and braided pleather cord for hanging (black and brown pleather used to match the burned blackcat drawing).
