Last night two of the ladies from my wild rose series came to finish off their flowers and these are the results! 🤩

The original rose they used to study, draw and make templates from 4 weeks ago was obviously a different one to the one in the photos but you get the idea.

I’ve not offered a series like this before, and I’ve loved it! I’ve learn so much from a teaching point of view and also for my own practice. The best bit? watching the participants learn how to use the real flowers to give them the answers to all the questions they had!
It’s all there, the colours, shapes the textures and the details and when you focus in on those details this is what happens!

I’ve taught both these ladies to make wild roses in half day workshops before and the flowers were beautiful but this series has taken them much, much deeper. Observation, learning how to make the crepe tell a story when there is no colour involved, dyeing paper to create life like colours and using painters and pastels to add realism. I’ve watched their skills and attention to detail improve immensely over the past 4 weeks.

Hopefully they’ll never look at a flower in the same way again… they’ll forever be thinking “how would i make this in paper?!”

Ridiculously bright, overly dressed up and loud.. perfect for a Christmas table!
I’ll provide the know how, the materials, the home made chewy chocolate brownies and coffee and all you’ve got to do is come along and enjoy yourself for a day of paper craft with a satisfying outcome!
Beginners welcome, if you can use scissors you can make a paper poinsettia ✂️

How does a week in the south west of France in June sound…?

There will be daily creative paper flower workshops inspired by local wild flower gardens. A picnic in a white flower garden, everyone dressed in white followed by fireworks and live music! There will be swimming in the Dordogne under the watchful eye of a chateau, home cooked meals with fresh food bought at the market, and there will be time to relax too of course!

Most people come alone, and leave with new friends and several guests are coming back for their second year!

Week 3 and we’ve made a glorious table full of colourful mess and joy! Dyeing crepe for our flowers, experimenting with inks, crepe dyes, stains from coffee and watercolours. For some the idea of dyeing their crepe is a mountain to climb but when you show them how easy and fun it is… they’re off!
Im so looking forward to seeing them turn all these beautiful pieces of paper into flowers next week… i can’t wait!
