Halloween/ Samhain is coming, so I bare homage to all those gone before their time due to prejudice and miss information.
So here is a little poem I wrote
Beth was born into a world during a turbulent time, or the story goes in many a rhyme.
An intelligent maiden who cant hold her tongue, but she is young and can do no wrong.
A mother to be that refuses his advance, to him she leads him on a merry dance.
A solitary life being shunned for her strength, but her voice must be heard at any length.
Mother turns to crone and an adviser to all, from medicine to midwife no task is too small.
She owns her own life and lives alone, independent amongst nature, but she doesn’t moan.
Respected and feared for the abilities she had, her life experiences are now being observed as bad.
Then a plague comes to town
loss of crops, sickness and death.
Someone needs to be blamed, and the fingers points to Beth.
She may have been respected but
some harbour hate, a turn of events begin to seal her fate.
They accuse and whisper behind her back, then innocently smile while she is under attack.
Crone turns to victim, resilient as she can be, but things are to unfold, as you’re about to see.
Torcher leads to confession, leads to others to blame, sealing their fate so they will suffer the same.
Trial by pricker, water or wrack, breaks their bones, their will, their back.
Fire and some the hangman’s noose,
takes the life of those innocents through iniquity and acts of obtuse.
These stories are remembered and these lessons are here, so this doesn’t happen again through prejudice and fear.
History sometimes repeats, so bare witness and see, watch out for Injustice.
So mote it be.
