Not everything goes to plan!! I’m so gutted today as I reveal my latest kiln full of ceramics. The change in the weather in the past few weeks is really affecting the speed at which my clay is drying out… or not, by the looks of this mess! What a disaster! The broken pieces flew across the shelf and stuck to other pieces which are now welded to each other. Made worse by the fact that some of the pieces are the results of my latest pottery workshop and a friend’s pieces too! Note to self: leave the pottery in the house to dry longer in the autumn. I feel like such an idiot for not waiting one more week.

Somebody asked me if I was making any of these this year….. so I’ve made 3 🛐. They will take a week or so to dry out and then be ready for glazing.

What a great day we had today!!

Glass of fizz on arrival, a little demo and then these novice potters took to the clay and created some beautiful festive trees 🎄

All are glazed and waiting to dry before firing.

I really am excited to see these unique handmade pieces as they emerge from the kiln.

Watch this space for the big reveal (in 2-3 weeks depending how warm it stays).

More new things in progress - this is what a great hours with clay can produce. Thinking about the glazes I can use in combination to make the finished items look really special. 🎄 🎃
