🧼✨ How to wash your sheer curtains WITHOUT losing your pleats!

I’m showing you step by step how to give your sheer curtains a freshen-up at home, including one little trick that makes putting them back up SO much easier! 🙌

🖊️ MY TOP TIP: Before removing your curtain hooks, make tiny biro pen marks on the back of the heading tape, hidden out of sight, to show exactly where each hook goes. Biro doesn’t normally wash out, so you’ll know exactly where to put them back! Genius! 😂

Here’s what you need to know:

✅ ALWAYS check that your fabric and finished curtains are machine washable.

✅ Remove all your curtain hooks before washing.

✅ Use a small amount of mild detergent. Nothing too harsh!

✅ Choose a gentle 20°C cold wash, provided the care label allows it.

✅ Rehang your curtains straight out of the washing machine while they’re still damp! This helps the fabric hang naturally and allows the creases to drop out as they dry.

⚠️ IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Even washable curtain fabrics can shrink or stretch during cleaning. Some fabrics have a dimensional movement tolerance of up to 3%, depending on the manufacturer’s specifications. Always follow the care instructions, as washing can affect the finished length of your curtains.

Some projects really do get me excited! 🤩

I’m currently planning the curtains for this beautiful home, and we’ve worked out the perfect pleat design to fit the wall spaces just right! 👌

What makes this project even better is that our client has been following us on Instagram for a while and has already put so much thought into planning the spaces for her curtains. And trust me, that makes such a difference to the finished look! 🙌

But seriously, there is ONE thing you need to know!

When your blind is fully down, your window needs to stay CLOSED! 🪟

Why? Because these blinds don’t just block light… they block WIND too! 💨

Leaving your window open with the blind down can put pressure on the blind and potentially cause damage over time.

So there you have it… even our favourite blinds have their rules! 😂

Can you spot the joins in this Roman blind? 👀🪡

When it comes to making beautiful bespoke Roman blinds, it’s the little details that make all the difference!

Personally, I always prefer to avoid fabric joins wherever possible. Whether that’s by turning the fabric sideways or choosing an extra-wide fabric, my aim is always to achieve the cleanest possible finish.

But sometimes, joins are unavoidable!

This stunning handmade Roman blind was particularly wide, meaning we needed to join the fabric to achieve the required width.

Luckily, our client had chosen a beautiful vertical stripe, giving us the perfect opportunity to cleverly conceal the joins within the pattern! 🙌

In this video, I show just how effective this technique can be and how a well-planned join can become almost invisible.

It’s all about understanding your fabrics and knowing how to get the very best finish! ✨
