In the interior design industry, summer is often seen as a quieter time. Families head off on holiday, European mills close for their summer break, and new enquiries are sometimes put on hold until the children are back at school.

Not so for Moxham Basham.

This summer has been a busy one. In between our own breaks in the sunshine, we’ve been working across projects at every stage - from initial concepts and sourcing, to installations and those final finishing touches.

One of the best parts of working together is the support we give each other. We bring different strengths, ideas and perspectives to every project, but we’re always aligned on the design. More often than not, we both know instinctively when something feels right…and when it doesn’t. That shared understanding makes the creative process feel very natural and helps us deliver the considered, personal interiors our clients come to us for.

And now, as summer draws to a close and it’s back-to-school time, September is already full of momentum and possibility, with a packed diary and plenty to look forward to.

This hallway sits at the centre of the home, where Butler & Duke’s architecture creates a beautiful dialogue between light, shadow, geometry and scale.

As daylight moves through the house, the staircase reveals itself in different ways and brings a subtle sense of drama.

Our interior scheme was intentionally restrained, introducing softness and texture without competing for attention.

A piano and ukulele lend a sense of rhythm and soul, reminding us that this isn’t simply a hallway to pass through, but a home to be lived in, filled with music, conversation and family life.

Creating a scheme is all about the layers.

For this scheme, we brought together a mix of rich tones, tactile textures, pattern and paint to create a space that feels both considered and full of personality.

We love working with colour, but for us, it’s never simply about choosing beautiful colours. It’s about understanding how they sit alongside one another, how different textures catch the light, and how layering tones and materials can create depth, balance and visual interest.

From woven fabrics and organic patterns to carefully chosen paint colours and natural finishes, every element has a purpose - creating a scheme that feels cohesive without being predictable.

Our aim is always to create spaces that are interesting, layered and timeless, whilst still feeling unmistakably individual to the people who live in them.

Because we believe colour should be enjoyed - and used with confidence.

Materiality matters. ✨

For this kitchen designed in collaboration with Evie Willow Bespoke Kitchens and Cabinet Makers the worktop was a defining design choice. We fell in love with the natural movement of Ivory Wave granite from Oxford Stone Craftsmanship - an ivory-cream base softly threaded with flowing veins of light grey and warm caramel tones.

Sweeping patterns create an organic sense of fluidity across each slab, while subtle darker accents bring depth and character to the stone.

Set against Morris & Co’s River Wandle and paired with Little Greene’s Clay Mid on cabinetry, the palette strikes a considered balance between freshness and warmth.

Bronze handles add finishing touch, bringing a timeless quality to the scheme while beautifully complementing the richness and rhythm of the granite.

A thoughtful combination of colour, texture and craftsmanship - inspired by nature and designed for everyday living.

Open shelving is a beautiful way to soften a run of tall cabinetry, bringing balance, character and a greater sense of space to a kitchen.

In this collaboration with Evie Willow Kitchens, antique mirror backing was introduced to gently reflect light throughout the room, adding depth and a subtle glow without feeling overpowering.
Paired with warm oak shelving and thoughtfully styled with glassware, ceramics and a favourite cookery book, the result feels collected, welcoming and effortlessly refined.

While we’re known for our love of colour, we firmly believe that balance is the key to a successful interior scheme.

Not every space needs to make a bold statement. We often use tonal neutrals to connect key rooms throughout a home, creating a natural sense of flow and cohesion from one space to the next.

For this landing, we kept the palette soft, warm and understated. We used Paint & Paper Library’s Chaste on the ceiling, paired with Little Greene’s Stock on the walls and Clay on the woodwork. Repeating colours and tones throughout a home is a simple yet incredibly effective way to create harmony, and here the palette sits beautifully alongside the warmth and character of the oak flooring.

Finished with just a few carefully chosen accessories, the result is welcoming, layered and quietly confident. It’s a space that feels effortlessly connected to the rest of the home, allowing the craftsmanship, natural materials and thoughtful detailing to take centre stage.

The reasons you probably shouldn’t work with Moxham Basham Interiors…

You don’t want designers who become genuinely invested in your project.

You don’t want colour, pattern and texture layered with confidence.

You definitely don’t want designers who will obsess over the details, manage the moving parts and keep the whole project on track.

And you probably won’t appreciate having a team who actually enjoys getting to know you, understanding how you live and building a relationship that lasts well beyond the final reveal.

So, if that sounds like your idea of a nightmare… perhaps we’re not the studio for you. 😉

Everyone loves a before and after... but what you don’t always see is everything that happens in between.

Starting with a blank canvas can feel daunting. With so many decisions to make, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, second-guess choices, or invest in pieces that don’t quite work together. Creating a home that feels effortlessly beautiful requires more than simply selecting furniture and fabrics. It’s about understanding how a space will be lived in and carefully layering texture, colour, scale and light to create a space that feels cohesive and inviting.

This sitting room is a perfect example. What began as an empty space has been transformed into a warm, inviting retreat, filled with rich textures, considered colour and layers of detail. Every element works together to bring depth, comfort and character to the room.
