I know it feels early to say this word, but the Christmas markets are coming.
I have lots of markets coming up throughout November and December but I am always very conscious that all my pieces are unique and I can only take a selection of my work to each market.
So this year, I’d like to offer all my Penguin Potter friends the chance to come to the studio and view my work and browse my pieces at your leisure.
If you’d like the opportunity to visit please just drop me a message and make an appointment. If I don’t have exactly what you are looking for I may still be able to glaze a piece especially for you.

Lidded pots…. I hope when you look at this picture you see something that looks nice. When I look at this picture I see all the love and care that goes into making these little beauties. The simplicity of the piece belies the effort to make them but a well-made lidded pot is a thing of beauty.
One day I’ll do a post showing every step but on this video is one of the the last stages where I use some grinding paste to smooth the edges of the two pieces and make it smooth and ensure they fit beautifully together.
There are so many things that can go wrong when making these pieces - so today I have breathed a sigh of relief to see them all safely out of the kiln.

I love these two glazes - they work so well together and are just so beautifully calming to have around. From large serving bowls, to little dishes and lidded pots they look so lovely on their own or together. Also a new shape of penguin jug that is just so lovely to hold.
These two serving bowls have been made to fit perfectly together and have been glazed purposely in these complimentary glazes - working together to bring a touch of colour to your kitchen.

A few new pieces for you today in a soft off white and the unglazed natural colour which I think look@so@lovely together. I often try and repeat shapes in different sizes as I think they make for a perfect pairing, shown here on a platter.
At my open studio a few people made a comment about liking the lighter colour of the underglaze on a bowl before it was glazed. So I have worked on this and made a lighter version of my carved larger serving bowls. I have two in the pictures here showing you the original darker blue and the new lighter version.

It’s been a little while since I last posted but I have been busy making. Here are a few new pieces fresh from the kiln which are ready for my next fair which will be on Monday 31st August at the Samares Manor County Fair. 10-5pm.

Here is a little look at some of the new pieces that have just come out of the kiln. I love making pottery and I am loving these new pieces.
They’ll be coming with me to the Trading Point Spring Market this Saturday 18th April 10-5pm . Every piece is unique - a one of a kind - so feel free to get in touch if there’s something you like.
