What a beautiful week for planting! These native plugs will grow into a lovely meadow habitat for pollinators and caterpillars right outside this homeowner's front door. The dense planting will keep unwanted weeds from sprouting. Once established, the drought-tolerant plants will require minimal maintenance.

Same plant, same potting date. Agastache, or giant hyssop, is a pollinator favorite, so it’s hard to cut them back in the summer when the bees are enjoying the blooms. You can do half and half to extend their bloom and keep them in shape. The one on the left was left to bloom. The one on the right was cut back in late August. A midsummer chop makes many perennials better!
