POV: CUSTOM CABINETRY IS ALWAYS WORTH IT.

From wall paneling to built-ins.
Custom vanities to mudrooms and laundry rooms.
Home bars to bookcases.

Some of my favorite details in a home are the ones that were designed specifically for the space.

Custom cabinetry is an investment, but itā€™s one I recommend again and again. It allows us to use every inch intentionally, get the proportions exactly right, create storage around the way you actually live, and choose finishes and details that feel cohesive with the architecture of the home.

And unlike something purchased simply to fill a wall, good millwork feels like it has always belonged there.

It adds function. It adds character. And it adds value. Worth every penny.

Iā€™m Teresa Curtis, founder and principal designer of Curtis Rowe Interiors. Before starting my own interior design business, I spent 15 years in corporate retail, where I learned a lot about people, business, presentation, and the details that shape how something feels.

Eventually, I took that experience and built a business around something Iā€™ve always believed: your home should bring you joy and make your real life better.

At Curtis Rowe Interiors, there isnā€™t one way to work with a designer. My Ć  la carte approach is intentionally flexible, with services ranging from Designer for a Day and in-home consultations to complete design packages and full-service installation. The Secret to a Home That Feels Effortlessly Beautifulā€¦

It doesnā€™t start with furniture. It starts with a vision.

Every project begins with defining how the home should feel. From there, every decision, from the wall color and custom molding to the furniture, lighting, artwork, and layout, is carefully selected to bring that vision to life.

For this living room, the goal was to create a space that felt warm, sophisticated, and completely distinct from the adjoining family room. My favorite detail is the rich wall color paired with the beautiful millwork. It adds so much depth and character and completely transforms the space.

These renderings are the final step before ordering begins, giving clients the confidence to see exactly how their future home will come together.

Itā€™s one of the first questions I ask every client.

Because if all you can see is exposed framing, dust, missing cabinets, and unfinished walls, itā€™s hard to believe whatā€™s possible.

My job is to see the finished home long before it exists. To make hundreds of decisions that all work together so one day you walk in and it simply feelsā€¦ right.

This is exactly why you hire a designer. Not because you canā€™t pick a backsplash, but because someone has to hold the vision while everyone else is focused on the construction.
