📚 Mood Board Monday: Back-to-School Edition 🍎

Back-to-school season means busy afternoons, homework at the counter, backpacks by the door, dinner on the stove…and everyone somehow ending up in the kitchen. ❤️

This week’s mood board is all about creating a kitchen that works for real family life. A place where Mom and Dad can get supper going while the kids tackle homework nearby — without everyone feeling like they’re on top of each other.

We love the idea of incorporating a dedicated homework station right into the kitchen, complete with good lighting, storage for school supplies, charging space and a family calendar to keep everyone organized. Pair that with durable countertops, easy-to-clean surfaces, plenty of storage and comfortable gathering spaces, and suddenly the kitchen becomes so much more than a place to cook.

Because the best-designed homes aren’t just beautiful…they make the everyday routines a little easier. 🏡

At The Inside Story, we can help you choose the flooring, tile, countertops, paint, window treatments and finishing details that turn your inspiration into a space that truly works for your family.

Beautiful. Functional. Family-focused.
That’s what making your house a home is all about. ❤️

✨ THE PRODUCT MATTERS. THE INSTALLATION MATTERS JUST AS MUCH. ✨

At The Inside Story, we spend a lot of time helping our clients choose the right flooring — the right color, the right construction, the right performance level and the right product for the way they actually live.

But even the best flooring in the world is only as good as the installation beneath it.

Think of it like a beautiful piece of artwork. You can hand two people the same premium paints, the same brushes and the same canvas — but the finished result can look completely different depending on the experience, skill, preparation and attention to detail of the person holding the brush.

Flooring is no different.

There is a big difference between someone who knows how to install flooring and a seasoned flooring installer who understands the craft.

Experienced installers know what to look for before the first plank or tile ever goes down. They understand subfloor preparation, moisture, transitions, expansion requirements, layouts, cuts, seams and all of those little details that most people will never notice — unless they’re done incorrectly.

And sometimes, experience means knowing when not to install yet.

We live in a world of tutorials, videos and “professional DIY’ers,” and we’re all for learning how things work. But some projects benefit enormously from years of hands-on experience.

When you purchase flooring from The Inside Story, we don’t want to simply sell you a beautiful product.

We want the finished floor to be beautiful, too.

Because a quality product + quality installation is what turns a box of flooring into something you’ll be proud to live with for years.

Choose the product carefully. Choose the person installing it just as carefully.

The Inside Story
Making your house a home.

🏀 Every School Has a Story. Every Entrance Sets the Tone. 👟♻️

What if your athletic facility could make a statement before students ever step onto the court?

We’re excited to showcase a collection of concept designs featuring Mohawk Group’s NEW Hero Rubber Flooring—an innovative performance surface made with recycled Nike shoes, giving worn-out athletic footwear a second life in the spaces where tomorrow’s athletes train, compete, and grow.

From welcoming lobbies to weight rooms and gym entrances, Hero Rubber delivers:
🏆 Exceptional durability for high-traffic athletic spaces
♻️ Sustainable design using recycled Nike Grind materials
👟 Slip-resistant, resilient performance underfoot
🎨 Custom school branding with logos and colors built right into the flooring

These concept renderings celebrate some incredible Hill Country schools:
🟢 Harper Longhorns
🔴 Fredericksburg Battlin’ Billies
🔵 St. Mary’s Catholic School Apaches
🟣 Mason Punchers
🟢 Heritage Eagles

Every school has its own traditions, history, and pride—and your flooring can reflect that from the moment students, athletes, and visitors walk through the door.

At The Inside Story, we love helping schools create spaces that inspire school spirit while investing in products that are built to last—and built with the future in mind.

📍If your school is planning a renovation, new athletic facility, weight room, or gym entrance, we’d love to help bring your vision to life.

Making your house a home… and helping your school tell its story.

✨ Design should make you feel something.

Lately, you’ve probably been hearing the term Dopamine Design—and for good reason.

This trend isn’t about filling a room with bright colors just for the sake of being bold. It’s about creating a home that sparks joy every time you walk through the door. Rich color, beautiful texture, meaningful patterns, and thoughtfully layered materials all come together to create spaces that simply make you feel good.

The best part? Dopamine Design can still feel timeless and sophisticated.

In this concept, we paired:
🎨 Benjamin Moore paints for a warm, inviting palette
🌸 Thibaut wallcovering for elegant movement and personality
🪟 Hunter Douglas window treatments to soften the natural light
✨ SOHO Studio Corp tile for artisan-inspired texture
🪵 Light wood flooring to ground the vibrant palette
🛋️ Jaipur Living rugs and luxurious upholstery to add comfort and depth

The result is a room that’s colorful without being overwhelming, playful without sacrificing elegance, and full of personality while remaining beautifully livable.

At The Inside Story, we believe your home should reflect you—your personality, your memories, and the things that make you smile every single day.

Because great design isn’t just about what you see…
it’s about how it makes you feel.

✨ Making your house a home.
