This little beauty is up for adoption at The Southern Dahlia in Goldsboro 🌱
Here are few fun facts about this spectacular plant! I had no idea that using distilled water helps prevent brown leaf tips👇
The Maranta leuconeura, commonly known as the PRAYER PLANT, is a low-growing tropical perennial famous for its decorative foliage that folds upward at night like praying hands 🙏
Care Requirements☀️💧🌡
Light: Bright, indirect sunlight. Direct sun burns the delicate leaves, while very low light causes leggy growth.
Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water once or twice a week in spring and summer, and reduce frequency in fall and winter. Filtered or distilled water helps prevent brown leaf tips.
Soil: Rich, well-draining, loamy soil mixed with peat, perlite, and organic matter.
Temperature: Ideal temperatures range between 60°F and 80°F (15–27°C). Protect the plant from cold drafts and temperatures below 60°F.
Humidity: Thrives in high humidity environments (40% to 60% or higher).
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced, half-strength houseplant fertilizer monthly during the spring and summer active growing season, withholding food in fall and winter.
Key Features👇
Size: Grows compactly to about 6–12 inches tall and spreads 6–24 inches wide.
Toxicity: Completely non-toxic and safe for cats, dogs, and humans.
