Small kid time, my brother and I spent hours on the beach looking for cat’s eyes. Our aunties showed us how to make them fizz, which added to the fun. Years later, I recognized those familiar spirals in Shiva eye shell beads.
Learning more about them has made me appreciate them even more. That little “shell” once worked as a protective door for a sea snail. And some double-sided beads are actually two pieces bonded back-to-back—I’d been imagining they grew that way!!
Sometimes my brain takes a little while to make the connection. Once it does, suddenly I have a new favorite bead. Add the memories of my brother and our aunties, and you can see why every time I find a pretty Shiva eye bead, I HAVE to get it for us. ;)
