A few snapshots from last week! 📸🧵

Definitely missing Kayla McLane and her video skills and sewing skills this week 😉😂, but what a fabulous week we had at Coastal Sewing Academy!

Tuesday was a FULL day with two beginner sewing classes and what ended up being a mini private lesson in between. I truly felt so blessed by the women who came. They were patient, willing to learn, asked great questions, and just jumped right in!

The BEST part? Hearing them say they left feeling more confident and not nearly as scared of their sewing machines anymore. 🙌🏻

And several said they’ll be back for more classes, which made my sewing-teacher heart pretty happy. 💙

Then Friday we kicked off the very first day of our Homeschool Sewing Academy semester! It was SEW much fun introducing these girls to sewing, getting comfortable with their machines, and laying the foundation for everything we’ll be learning this semester. Next Friday, we get to jump right into our first projects, and I can’t wait!

Seeing people go from “I’m scared I’m going to mess this up” to “I can actually do this!” is exactly why I love teaching. 🥹

What. A. DAY. 🧵🪡💙

Two sewing classes + an unexpected little quasi-private lesson in between = one VERY full day of sewing!

Today was filled with learning machines, building confidence, troubleshooting, practicing new skills, lots of questions, and lots of sewing. And I absolutely loved getting to watch those “ohhh, I get it now!” moments happen. 🥰

There’s something pretty special about watching someone go from feeling unsure behind a sewing machine to realizing, “Wait… I CAN do this.”

My feet are tired. My brain is tired. 😂 But this is exactly why I wanted to start teaching.

Such a good first day of September classes at Coastal Sewing Academy. 💙

Now… I think my sewing machines and I all need to go to bed. 😂🧵

🧵 You don’t have to know how to sew before you come to sewing class.

That’s kind of the point. 😉💙

We start with things like:

“How do I thread this machine?”

“Why did my thread just do THAT?” 😂

“How do I actually sew a straight line?”

And then we build.

One skill turns into another…and before long, you’re making things you never thought you could make yourself.

✨ Learning your machine
✨ Practicing stitches and seams
✨ Keychain wristlets
✨ Zipper pouches
✨ Tote bags
✨ And eventually moving into even more sewing and quilting skills

That’s why Machine Confidence is the starting point of my Beginner Sewing Series — not the end of it.

Our next class is September 1, with both an afternoon and evening option. Once you’ve got those foundations, you can continue into the project classes and keep building your skills.

And for homeschool families, our semester-long Homeschool Sewing Academy begins September 4 and we still have room for just 1–2 more families. 🏡🧵

You don’t have to be “good at sewing” to start.

You start so you can get good at sewing. 💙

🏡🧵 Homeschool families — we’re almost ready to begin!

Our fall Homeschool Sewing Academy starts September 4, and I have room for just 1–2 more families before enrollment closes. 💙

This isn’t just a one-time sewing project class. Students will spend the semester actually building their sewing skills — learning their machines, practicing techniques, troubleshooting when things don’t go quite as planned (because sewing 😂), and becoming more confident and independent as they work through different projects.

✨ Fridays, 1:00–3:00 PM
✨ September–December
✨ Ages 10+
✨ Beginner-friendly
✨ Sewing machines available — no machine required
✨ $150/month payments to break the cost of the semester up.
