Are you a September decorator or an October decorator? 🍂

She’s done, and she looks like fall—inside AND out. Wreath’s up, mums are out, pumpkins are in place, and the inside got its fair share of fall, too. Because apparently decorating one side of the front door wasn’t enough.

The house finally matches the calendar, and this morning’s 40° weather understood the assignment. Meanwhile, I’m still out in the garden negotiating with plants like we don’t all know how this season ends. 🎃🌱

I’m sharing this recipe—not because I think I’m some great cook. ❤️

I’m sharing it because one day, my kids may want to know, “Mom, how did you make that dinner we used to have?” And if someday I’m not here to answer them, I love the thought that they can come back here, hear my words, see the meals I made, and connect with me in a different way.

My own mom never really taught me how to cook, and maybe there are other women out there who grew up the same way—figuring it out as we went, learning through trial and error, recipes, family dinners, and a whole lot of “let’s see how this turns out.” 😂

So maybe these recipes are more than recipes. Maybe they’re a little piece of our family story. A way of saying, this is what I made for you, this is how I loved you, and this is how you can make it too. ❤️

How many different places do you go to shop for groceries for your family, and why?

𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝒀𝒐𝒖 so much for all of the great summer dinner ideas!
My list 📋is long for the grocery stores today.

(We usually spend between $800 and $1000, but on our big shopping days… It used to be $500 to $700, but groceries have definitely gotten a lot more expensive!!)

As I was thinking of this long list and all the newer markets that have opened in the last few years in Loudoun County, between Sprouts and Trader Joe’s and Aldi and Lidl, and then your main grocery store like Harris Teeter and Giant. Add in some farmers markets and bakeries; the options just seem endless as to where you could get your groceries.

Then, if you calculate your time in for going from one place to another, it could really add up to a long day and a lot of stops! However, if you’re going to save a significant amount of money, it may be worth it to have this long day with multiple stops.

So, where do you go🛒? How many stops do you make? Do you find that you are making multiple stops because you are saving 💵 money or because the quality of some food items is better at certain places than others?

Ps… picture is of my kids when they were younger, I would create challenges in different parts of the grocery store and when getting cleaning supplies, I used to take them to this aisle, plunge a couple plungers to the vinyl floor and make it a contest who could unstick their plunger first.😂😂
